By Mike Johnson on 2018-07-19 18:16:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of Major League Wrestling's BattleRiot from the Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City.  Tonight's show will be a TV special taping for BeIN Sports.

PRE-SHOW NOTES:

The show is completely sold out to the tune of 800 fans, which is a great crowd.

As noted, this will be a special for BeIN Sports.  The plan is to air the complete Battle Riot and two additional matches.  The remainder of the show will be used for future MLW: FUSION TV.  I'll try and confirm the matches after the show.

Atlas Security is in the house.  Also spotted were EC Negro and Francis Kipland Stevens.

Fans taking part in a VIP meet and greet before the show were gifted a BeIN Sports t-shirt.

Rafael Morfi of Signature Move Productions ran the logistical end of the live event.  He is also working on the Impact Wrestling PPV this Sunday and worked for WWE for many, many years.

Our ring announcer tonight is Stephen DeAngelis.

They asked fans to refrain from cursing and using the middle finger at the onset of the taping.

MLW tossed out t-shirts to the crowd at the onset of the show.

MLW is selling promotion logo shirts as well as shirts for The Hart Foundation and Jimmy Havoc.

BeIN Sports has several staffers here, including a sports photographer.

Some of the staff of Capitol Wrestling worked as support staff here.

MLW BATTLE RIOT

Richard Holliday vs. Fred Yehi.

Nice pop for Yehi when he came to the ring.

Yehi was all over Holliday, keeping him on the mat and controlling him.   He locked on a side chinlock.  Holliday was brought into the corner and chopped hard.  He whipped Holliday hard into the buckles and nailed a back suplex for a two count.

Yehi continued the assault until being cut off.  Holliday worked him over but argued with referee Bryce Remsberg.  Yehi came back with a series of rights but Holliday hit a twisting suplex for a two count.  Yehi nailed a double stomp across the back and locked in an armbar submission for the win.

Your winner, Fred Yehi!

As a TV match, it was fine, spotlighting Yehi and giving Holliday a few spots to show he was competitive.

Myron Reed vs. Kotto Brazil

Fast paced action from the onset.  Reed kicked off a Brazil charge and hit a sitting splash for a two count off the ropes.  He slammed Brazil for a two count.   He chopped Brazil in the corner and whipped him hard into the corner, then hit a hip attack.

Brazil reversed a whip and sent Reed into the corner, then nailed a running elbow.  Brazil used a chinlock.  Brazil nailed a big dropkick.  Brazil then hit a nice suicide dive to the outside.     He followed up with a second, which was even more spectacular.  He went for a third, but Reed rolled back into the ring and nailed a dropkick, then hit a SICK dive over the ropes.

Reed nailed a springboard back elbow for a two count.  Brazil came back with a double knee strike to the back in the corner for a two count.   Brazil came off the top with a stomp, then cinched in a submission.  Reed struggled to make the ropes and the crowd popped when he did.

The crowd began back and forth chants for the two competitors.  They are getting a great reaction for two talents the crowd didn’t really know.

Reed drilled Brazil with a big right forearm.  Reed ducked under a springboard dive, then caught him with an Ace Crusher for a two count.  Brazil nailed a 450 splash for another near fall.  Reed came back with some big offense but was caught with a sliced bread #2 for the pin.

Your winner, Kotta Brazil!

A heck of an athletic performance from each competitor.  Really, really strong, athletic, fast paced wrestling.

The Dirty Blondes came out with Col. Robert Parker.  Parker introduced Jake Hager, describing him as the man who rules the world.  Out came the former Jack Swagger.

Jake Hager vs. Simon Gotch

Gotch came out with his fight team.   Hager started out strong with a series of clotheslines.  Hager nailed a Vader Bomb off the ropes in the corner and used his foot to step on Gotch’s throat.

Gotch made a comeback and nailed several running forearms in the corner.    Hager came back with a gut wrench powerbomb for a two count.  He tried to go from the anklelock but was unsuccessful.

Gotch spit at Hager, who responded with a big kick to the face and pinned him.  That was a weird ending.

Your winner, Jake Hager!

The action was fine.  Hager remains undefeated.

Jimmy Havoc vs. Brody King.

They began brawling immediately.  King was sent to the floor.  Havoc nailed a dive to the floor.  Havoc came off the ropes to the floor but was caught.  King avoided being shoved into the ring post and nailed a chokeslam on the apron.

King stalked Havoc on the floor.    They battled back into the ring, where King worked over Havoc.  Havoc fired back with punches and chops but was knocked back down to the mat.  He kept pulling himself to his feet with the ropes.

Havoc was nailed with a big boot that sent him from the apron to the floor.  He pulled himself up and returned before he could be counted out.  Havoc went nuts with chops to the leg, trying to cut down the monster.   King fired back with massive shots of his own.

Havok faked a poke to the eye.  King ducked it and Havoc snapped him with a DDT.  Havoc nailed a kick to the head for a two count.  Havoc was nailed with a short arm clothesline and a piledriver for a two count.

They battled back and forth.  King went for a Razor’s Edge, but Havoc nailed a rana.   Brody went for Greetings from Asbury Park, but Havoc escaped.  Brody went for a chokeslam, but Havoc nailed a forward roll out of it and scored the pin.

Your winner, Jimmy Havoc!

A good back and forth match that solidified King as a destructive monster while also getting Havoc over for having the heart to battle him and overcome.

MLW Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix vs. Drago & Rey Horus.

Horus is a sub for Aerostar, who is injured.  Big reaction for the Tag Champions.

Drago and Pentagon started out.  Fenix jumped in and superkicked Drago.  That brought Horus in.  All sorts of lucha libre chaos went down, which the crowd went nuts for.  It was all huge action movie spots that were all over with the crowd popping big for the near falls.  Good luck to Tony Schiavone calling this!

There was a lot of lucha, including some big dives into the crowd.  Pentagon drilled the hell out of Horus with kicks.  Horus went for a springboard move off the top but was kicked as he came down.  Fenix came out of nowhere with a senton.  All sorts of near falls.

Big dive to the outside by Fenix.  It continued until a double team.

Your winners and still MLW Tag Team Champions, Rey Fenix & Pentagon Jr.!

Just insane, off the charts, balls to the wall action.  Way too much to recap live.  Fun stuff.

Fenix cut a promo saying he was proud that there were so many Luchadors for Mexico City are here and the crowd loves them and lucha libre.  The crows gave them a big reaction and chanted "Lucha."  They thanked everyone for coming to MLW.
