The writing and continuity often come into question when it comes to professional wrestling.  Especially in WWE due to Vince's often negative influence on the writing team.  As you're well aware logic is often nothing more than an afterthought.  My question is; do you think it would ever be beneficial for WWE or any promotion to have top notch writers (the kind who get nominated and win awards) and let them do their thing?  Would it work?  Raw and SmackDown are essentially action TV shows.  Theoretically they could have writing just as good as shows that win Emmys and Golden Globes.

In the abstract, sure, top notch, uber talented writers write.  That is what they do.  So in theory, sure I think great writers could write great storylines.

What are your thoughts on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame? That is my favorite issue every year and in my opinion, is a very credible Hall of Fame, unlike the WWE one. No disrespect though. Are you guys a part of the voting process as well?

I respect the effort that Dave Meltzer puts into the issue.  For people that are into that kind of thing, I can see why you enjoy it.  I am not ask big of an Awards, best match ever or Hall Of Fame kind of person, so my interest in that area.  Dave has asked Mike and I to vote for the Hall in the past.  I appreciate him doing so but as I said, I am not all that into the subject.

Do you think that the failed Stone Cold heel turn of 2001 has had an effect on how Vince/WWE considers big heel turns in present day? Before that we had HBK, Bret, Rock, Taker and then Austin turning heel when positioned as the top face, and since then the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns have not, even when certain parts of the audience (pre PG in Cena’s case) have rejected them as top faces.

No, what has changed is that Vince won the war with WCW and went back to booking the way he always wanted to.  The Attitude Era only ever really happened due to WCW pulling ahead of the WWF and forcing Vince out of his comfort zone so that he could compete.  Once he won, he went back to doing what he is comfortable doing.

Why did WWE make Hulk Hogan Mr. America, and why did that run come to an end?

As memory serves, Vince McMahon suspended him in the storyline and Hogan came back under the hood.  The storyline ended when Hogan left the company.  He unmasked and they showed the footage and the Vince “fired” him.

Seeing as how the Cruiserweights have been pulled from Raw, haven’t really gotten any kind of love on the PPVs other than pre-show matches and are now strictly on 205 Live, do you see WWE eventually going the NXT route with them by giving them (the cruiserweights) their own quarterly network specials like the Takeover series?

I can’t say either way, but I would have no problem with them doing that.  I think they would have to do it in a small building, like Full Sail, though because I don’t see them selling out a big arena the way that NXT does.
