In the conference call regarding the new tv deal, it was mentioned being picked up and being covered by ESPN as s a big part of what got them the increase in rights. As I recall the Coach was the driving force for that ESPN relationship, and it continues to this day after he left. I only point his out as some fans seem to loathe the Coach on commentary. But how much do you think this, his legitimizing WWE with ESPN, played a role in his being welcomed back with open arms earlier this year?

I think it’s pretty clear that Coach kept a great relationship with WWE after leaving for ESPN.  And yep, he did help in getting them coverage, though to be fair I think it would have happened any way as other outlets, like Fox Sports and SI, started covering wrestling as well since clicks are clicks.  I think that even if Coach hadn’t helped get WWE coverage, his status as am ESPN anchor would have been appealing to WWE, kind of like David Otunga’s connection to Jennifer Hudson made him attractive to the company.

What makes a good pro wrestling referee?

Obviously competency.  But beyond that, the ability to only be noticed when he/she is booked to be noticed.

As a pro wrestling fan since the early 80's I've seen the in ring work evolve drastically over the years.  Way back when I started watching moves like body slams and basic suplexes were treated like the most devastating thing you could do to another human being.  Now we have 630s, springboard this and that, elbows from everywhere in the building etc.  My questions are, was there a specific turning point where wrestling started to evolve or a specific wrestler you can credit it with?  Maybe a specific promotion?  Or was it the same as legit sports where athletes simple starting getting bigger, stronger, and faster so the in ring work evolved organically?

I credit ECW with that.  They brought in wrestlers that worked in Japan and Mexico and they brought that faster paced style with them.  WCW and the WWE then copied nationally what ECW was doing on a smaller scale.

I saw your response too why Impact wrestlers can wrestle on other companies tv shows my question is does Impact control how their champions are booked on those shoes or if their titles are defended for instance do they have a say in it?

Yes, Impact decides if their Title will change hands or not.

I read your article where Shania Twain said that if Kevin Owens beats Brawn Strowman, she will sing him his requested song. Do you see WWE altering their plans to have Owens beat Strowman (if that was indeed the plan) just to get some mainstream attention from it?

No, I don’t.  With all due respect to Twain, she is not a big enough star in 2018 to do something like that.  The only possible thing I could see is Braun getting DQ’d for beating up KO so badly.
