WHERE SHOULD WRESTLEMANIA AXXESS BE, NBC MAKING A MISTAKE LETTING SMACKDOWN GO TO THE OPEN MARKET? AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-05-19 10:00:00

Hey guys now this has been on my mind recently and I've going back and forth with it. Where will wrestlemania 35 axxess be held and where do you Guys think it will end up? I was a bit surprised when wwe didn't announce where axxess 2019 axxess will be when they held the presser for wrestlemania 35 back in March. My guess it has to be either prudential center or javits center which javits center for some reason seems like a long shot even though the car show isn't until April 19th next year. Prudential center could work barring the Devils schedule getting in the way another arena axxess that would be even though prudential is nicer then izod and much bigger too.   Another venue that looks really nice, pier 92/94 apparently it's the second largest convention center in New York and it has 208,000 square feet 133,000 for pier 94 75,000 for pier 92 seems like another long shot though.otherwise I'm out of guesses lol.

WWE has yet to announce it and we've heard that no final location is set.  I think it really should be at the Jacob Javits Center but Pier 92/94 is a really good idea that I hadn't even considered.  To me, it needs to be in NYC as I don't see WWE expecting fans and talents to realistically go to New Jersey and then rush back to Brooklyn for the other Mania week events.

Is it just me or did Backlash show that joint PPV's aren't a good idea with how big both rosters are. The whole Elias segment came off as a way to cram people into one segment at a time, without making any productive use of them. Then the matches just didn't seem up to par, nor did they seem to be a proper order to them. Then the ending to AJ vs Nakamura came off as a horrible way to continue a fued that now seems to be redundant, and not progressing anywhere.

I can't argue with you.  Backlash was the weakest PPV event produced by WWE in a long time and I hope it's just going to be seen as an abberation.

I had a question regarding the brand schedules. It is my understanding that the Smackdown brand has a house show/live event on Mondays. The RAW brand doesn't have a show on Tuesdays. Does this mean the Smackdown roster have 1 extra show a week?

No.  Most week, Raw starts live events on Fridays and end on Mondays.  Smackdown starts on Saturdays and ends on Tuesday, so they both run about 4 events a week.

If NBC Universal actually let's Smackdown go to another broadcast company, say Fox or ABC, isn't that setting them up for a huge loss when the next negotiations (the deal after the one currently in the works)?   If WWE plays this right, when that next TV contract comes up, they will already have a foot in the door with another broadcaster and be able to leverage that against NBC Universal.   Second question... If WWE, has to move Smackdown to another broadcast company, would it force WWE to finally treat Smackdown as an equal to Raw? Logic dictating that they would want to put their best foot forward with the new company too.

All of this is yet to be seen, but you are correct in that allowing another entity to carry Smackdown means NBC would be setting themselves up to allow a broadcasting rival to build a great relationship with WWE, potentially causing a new bidding war for their content down the line.  That would obviously be a positive for WWE, however!  One would think that this could only benefit Smackdown and force the company to truly push Smackdown as hard as they can from an importance standpoint.

How could Rich Swann work for Impact?

The same way he can work for everyone else.    Whatever non-compete he had has expired.
