PART TIME CENA, THE GRR, WHAT WWE COULDN’T DO WITH NICHOLAS AND MORE

The Ascension's gimmick in NXT was so unique and every detail of their part-goth/part-World of Warcraft characters made them stand out, from their epic entrance right down to the eerie black contacts Victor used to wear.   With the team floundering on the main roster for some time now, do you think it's time to bring back their NXT characters in order to revitalize their career?

I don’t really think that is the answer.  I think they had done all that they can in NXT and going back there really doesn’t do much good for the company.
One of the reasons the original WCW invasion angle failed was because of a string of bad matches involving the WCW talent.  Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell and Undertaker & Kane vs. Kronik come to mind in particular.  Booker is a Hall of Famer and Taker and Kane are surefire locks for the Hall, so why were these matches received so poorly?  Did the fault like entirely on Bagwell and Kronik?

Booker shined in the end but the Bagwell match was really bad.  I put the blame on Bagwell for that.  When you are getting your one shot, you have to make the most of it.  Kronik were brought in as a favor to Taker to get a tryout.  They just didn’t have a great showing when they needed to.

Wondering how much of the "Greatest Royal Rumble", from the name to the booking, is being driven by the royal family?

There’s a chance that the name was done in tribute to the Royal family I guess but I haven’t heard that was the case.  I know WWE wanted to give them a “big” event and I believe that is all there is to the Rumble being done there.  They definitely didn’t have anything to do with the booking, that was all WWE.

Will John Cena be back in WWE before the end of 2018? or will he return at the start of 2019?

I think now that he is 41 years old and making headway in the acting business, Cena will become more of a part timer.  I would be really surprised if he didn’t appear at SummerSlam.  The big shows are an all hands on deck affairs and he certainly would be a draw for them.

I was thinking about the Rousey vs HHH moment at Mania and wondered the following.  In the case of the Strowman & Nicholas angle, could they have done the same thing with a kid that had training?  Tag the kid in and have him unexpectedly land offense?  That could have been really funny.  Just not sure about the legality of it.

I am not sure of the legality of it either.  I don’t think it would have been wise to put a ten year old kid in that position, whether he was trained or not.  That would have opened the company up to a lot of liability and questioning.  It wouldn’t be worth it, especially when they constantly tell us that wrestlers are trained professionals.
