RICOCHET & ALEISTER VS. VELVETEEN & ANDRADE: 4/20 WWE NXT IN BETHLEHEM, PA LIVE REPORT

By Zach Levine on 2018-04-20 22:41:00

Great show from a pretty much sell out show tonight in Bethlehem, PA, featuring the debut of some new NXT stars and the farewell of others. Show began with a 10 Bell Salute to Bruno.

1. No Way Jose beat Chad Lail. Lail used to be Gunner in TNA. Solid match that was fun for the crowd. They did the recent Seamus/Cesaro spot where Jose raised his hand for cheers, then Lail for boos. Jose was really popular with the crowd

2. Bianca Belair beat Candice LaRae. Great match that showed off Bianca’s strength with a delayed gorilla press involved while doing squats. Crowd loved Candice.

3. EC3 beat Kassius Ohno. Excellent match, was a lot of fun. Ohno repeatedly kicked and elbowed as only he could. Quite the look disparity between the two. EC3 won with the TKO and was praised by the crowd that he called a dump at the onset of the match.

4. Street Profits beat Forgotten Sons. Forgotten Sons are Steve Cutlet and Wesley Blake, who got Buddy Murphy chants at him anytime he was in the match. Great showing for both, Montez won with a frog splash. Match got a This is Awesome chant at one point.

5. Kairi Saine and Nikki Cross beat Shayna Baszler and Lacey Evans. Fun match with Kairi being scared to interact with Nikki as her tag partner. She hit the elbow on Evans for the win.

6. Tomasso Ciampa beat Oney Lorcan. Ciampa got a ton of heat coming out to Johnny Gargano’s music. He then called the town Jerusalem, PA and praised Oney, calling him Tomasso Lite. Great spots in the match with Ciampa hitting Lorcan with the Kryptonite Krunch on the apron and off the second rope. Post match Ciampa tries to inflict more damage with the ring bell but Gargano ran into the ring to face him. Street Profits, No Way Jose and Candace all came out to support Johnny.

7 Aleister Black and Ricochet beat Andrade Cien Almas and Velveteen Dream. Really fun match. Crowd chanted “Everyone!” at the start. Start was funny with Dream and Almas continually tagging out so they didn’t have to face Black. They each played to the crowd a ton, getting them riled up for a move and then declining to do it. Great spot in the match with Ricochet and Black faking moves and sitting Indian Style together back to back. Black beat Almas with the black mass kick to send the crowd home happy.

Great NXT night as always. Make sure to check them out when coming to your town!
