RAW'S FORGOTTEN FIRST WOMEN'S MAIN EVENT, MAKING WRESTLEMANIA A MATINEE EVENT, ROH TV IN UK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-04-14 10:00:00

Why is the main event with Trish always mentioned but not  Lita vs. Stephanie?? 2004 wasn’t the first Raw women’s main event, wasn’t the first one for Lita, and wasn’t even the first time Lita won the title.

My only theory is that the company doesn't want to push that Stephanie was one of the first women who headlined Raw because it would be self-serving.  It's a better narrative to push the talents.

Great job on the site as always – thank you for all the work you do.  I was watching the Mae Young Classic, and the women absolutely killed it.  If some people are still making a distinction between “women’s wrestling” and “men’s wrestling,” they won’t be able to after the Classic airs – that’s how much talent and effort those women displayed.  With that said, can you see WWE creating a distinct women’s brand that could do mini-tours like NXT?  They could easily pull enough talented women to form a core roster (e.g., Kairi Sane, Toni Storm, Shayna Baszler, Tessa Blanchard, Jazzy Gabert, Mia Yim, Rachel Evers, to name a few).  I imagine they could run a weekly program on the network as well.  What do you guys think?

If WWE wanted to go that route, absolutely.  I think WWE doing a second year of the Mae Young Classic is all they are going to do at this point.  They are taking a walk before they run tact.

Is there any news of RoH making their way to UK TV? There's some good stuff going on by the sounds of it but don't get to see it

No word on any imminent deal, but the company is always looking for potential international deals.

Any chance Wrestlemania will be turned into a matinee event?  It's too long a show, but if they started at say 3 PM EST, it would be over at 9 PM Eastern, which might make it a lot easier for everyone watching?

I like the idea, but I haven't seen any evidence that has even been discussed by WWE.

What do you think of the idea of Paige as the General Manager?

I think it's an excellent idea.  She's always been an excellent talker and has a great personality.  It makes sense to utilize her in that role, especially since she has a very loyal fan base.
