IMPACT WRESTLING TO ADDRESS ALBERTO FIRING THIS THURSDAY

By Mike Johnson on 2018-04-09 19:18:00

Impact Wrestling released the following promo for this Thursday's edition of Impact Wrestling on PopTV, teasing they will dive into the company's decision to terminate Alberto el Patron, setting the stage for Austin Aries vs. Rey Fenix vs. Pentagon Dark (Penta 0M):

Patron's release came on the heels of Patron no showing the Lucha Underground vs. Impact Wrestling event in New Orleans.  While one Impact source stated that Patron had claimed to be sick, the word around the locker room was that Patron had blown off the show.   Aries wrestled Pentagon and Fenix instead, losing in order to set up the 4/22 Redemption PPV bout.

One story that has been shared amongst the wrestlers in the wake of his no-show was that Impact head Ed Nordholm was staying in the same hotel as Patron and attempted to check on him but was unable to do so.  PWInsider can also confirm that there was great concern about Patron's well-being amongst those in company management to the point that there was talk of calling police to make a wellness check on him.

Patron had appeared earlier that day for a press conference that was filmed and streamed live on the internet where he and current impact Champion Austin Aries got into a physical scuffle to build the originally planned 22nd Redemption pay-per-view main event.

After missing Friday's event, Patron did not appear as scheduled for his autograph signing Saturday at Wrestlecon for Impact, instead returning home to Texas.
