WRESTLEMANIA BEING TOO LONG, IT’S TIME TO GET RID OF THE MANIA PRE-SHOW, SHANE IS NUTS AND MORE

Is it just me or has Wrestlemania become way too long. I mean a two hour kick off show and a four hour plus show. Do you think this is too much and what do you think would be the best length for the show? Maybe three hours like the other PPVs, or four hours but no kick off show?

It is not you.  A lot of people agree.  I sure do.  It is WAY TO F’ING LONG!  Sometimes less is more.  Last year, the main show went almost 5 hours.  That is seven hours total. It’s just way too long for me.  And if it rains next year in NJ, and people have to sit there soaked for 7 hours, you will see that play out in the reactions, especially if it’s a cold rain.  I get that show is loaded and all but seven hours is too much.  To me, the show should never be more than five hours.  It’s hard to stay up for an event that goes as long as Mania does.

I heard you guys on audio talking about WrestleMania being too long.  I totally agree with you on that and agree that matches that get on the pre-show automatically seem “unimportant”.  I heard Stu’s idea of making Mania a two day event.  I have also heard you say that they should make the pre-show an hour and instead of having pre-show matches, have the card start at 5 p.m. ET.  If you could choose between the two which would you pick?

As I said about, 7 hours is too long for me so I would personally like it to take place over two days.  That would mean starting Mania weekend on Thursday instead of Friday.  The potential downside is that the first show could come off as the B event so they would have to be extremely careful to put top tier matches on both shows.  If they don’t do that, they should definitely eliminate the “pre show”.  Seeing Neville and Austin Aries work in front of a sparse crowd last year was just criminal to me.  They busted their butts and most of the crowd didn’t even see it.  That’s just wrong.

Is it just me or have the cruiser weights stopped appearing on Raw, and do you think this is a good move?

Since HHH took over yes, there presence on Raw has been lessened extremely.  I think that is a good thing.  Vince McMahon was booking those guys the same way he books the main roster and it wasn’t working.  Those guys are working machines so let them work and don’t make them into goofy characters.  Plus, they have the tournament ongoing so that should be the focus.

Also, what are the chances that the championship match actually makes it on the main show at Wrestlemania, especially now that triple H is in charge, and do you think it matters, or should they just be happy that they are appearing at all?

If I had to guess, I think it won’t make the show.  Stu, Eps and I talked about that on our Friday and Saturday shows.  The card is loaded.  You have nine Title matches, plus all the other stuff.  The card is huge.  So my guess is it will be on the pre-show, which is why they should just do away with the pre-show altogether.

I've got a quick, admittedly half-rhetorical, question regarding Shane McMahon.  Simply said: Why is he doing it? Given his wealth & family-name, why on earth does he keep on taking these crazy and/or brutal bumps?  The final bump on this weeks's Smackdown! looked just vicious. I know he's a muscular dude & learned how to take bumps, but my oh my.  Don't get me wrong, as a fan, I do appreciate the hell out of it & Shane is a hell of seller which did make this segment (and the vast majority of his insanity in general) look very good, but the "why?!" just remains. Is it love for the business, taking professionalism to the edge or is he just flat out nuts?...

If I had to answer, I would say it’s a combination of he loves the business and he’s a little bit special!
