Welcome to PWInsider.com’s live, ongoing Ring of Honor 16th Anniversary PPV event from The Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas.

Pre-Game Show

Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana and Deonna Purrazzo are doing commentary for the pre-show matches.

WOMEN OF HONOR CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: SUMIE SAKAI VS. HANA KIMURA

Kimura played to the crowd and attacked Sakai when she wasn't ready.  The match early on was Kimura controlling Sakai, including locking her in a bow and arrow and working her over on the floor.  She went for a suplex but it was countered into a DDT by Sakai for a two count.  Sakai went to the top but was grabbed by Hana's second.  Hana used that to grab Sakai and nailed a superplex.   She held her up for a long delayed, vertical suplex for another two count.   Sakai came back to nail a flying bodypress off the top to the floor.   Hana regained control but was almost pinned with a forward roll.   Sakai nailed a Crossrhodes and scored the pin.

Your winner, advancing to the quarter-finals, Sumie Sakai.

A good, solid match.  I was surprised by Sakai scoring the win, to be honest.

QUARTER-FINAL MATCH IN WOMEN OF HONOR CHAMPIONSHIP: BRANDI RHODES VS. TENILLE DASHWOOD

Mandy Leon joined Ian and Colt on commentary for this one.

Rhodes went for a kick, but Dashwood caught her leg.    Dashwood controlled her on the mat with a side headlock.   Dashwood worked over Rhodes’ arm.  Rhodes made a comeback, locking in a cross armbar.  She drilled Dashwood into the buckles over and over but missed a charge into the corner.   Dashwood made a comeback with a series of clotheslines and drove Rhodes into the buckles.  Dashwood paid tribute to Tajiri, locking her in the Tarantula, then hit a splash into the buckles for a two count.   Dashwood nailed a double underhook suplex for a two count.   Brandi used a distraction to set up the Crossrhodes and nailed it, scoring the pin.  Dashwood scored the pin.

Your winner, moving on to the semi-finals, Tenille Dashwood!

OK match.

Brandi walked out with Leon.

The Dawgs came out and said that what would be the 16th Anniversary without the Dawgs.  They were being obnoxious on the mic, but Bully Ray came and ran them out of the ring, then riled up the crowd for the PPV.

ROH 16th ANNIVERSARY PPV

The PPV opened with several stars remembering past milestones before previewing Dalton Castle vs. Jay Lethal.

We went live to the ring where Bully Ray gave a big pro-ROH speech.

Flip Gordon vs. Hiromu Takahashi.

They had some nice back and forth wrestling early on.   They went to the floor, where Takahashi nailed a running kick off the apron to Gordon’s chest.  He worked over Gordon on the floor before bringing him back to the ring.   He drilled Gordon with a kick in the chest, then whipped him across the ring and nailed a clothesline in the opposite corner for a two count.

Takahashi went to the floor and grabbed Daryl the stuffed cat.  He nailed Gordon with the plush mascot, leading to the referee taking him away.  The fans booed Todd Sinclair for that.     Takahashi used a leg scissors to wear down Gordon.

Gordon made a comeback nailing a Samoan Drop, then a running shooting star press for a two count.   He went to the top but Hiromu nailed him with a right hand.  They battled on the top.   Gordon slipped up and used the ropes to springboard into a kick to the back.  He nailed a Falcon Arrow variation, then ascended back to the top rope.  Gordon set up as the fans chanted his name and went for a flip.  Hiromu moved but Gordon landed on his feet.  Hiromu was nailed with a Canadian Destroyer.  He popped up and nailed a superkick in response before both collapsed.

The referee began counting each of them down.   They battled back to their feet and exchanged forearms and punches.  Gordon nailed the star spangled stunner and went for a 450 splash off the top but Hiromu pulled his knees up.  The battle continued back and forth untl Hiromu nailed a German suplex with a bridge for a two count.  He called for his finisher, The Timebomb, but Gordon tried to fight him off.  Takahashi nailed a superkick and a big clothesline for another close near fall.

Hiromu nailed the Timebomb and scored the pin.

Your winner, Hiromu Takahashi!

Really fun back and forth match with strong action and good near falls.  Nice way to start the official PPV.

They aired a video feature on Marty Scurll vs. Punishment Martinez.

Marty Scurll vs. Punishment Martinez.

Scurll attacked but Martinez sent him to the floor and hit a flip dive over the top.  Scurll tried to attack the leg, using several takedowns but Martinez returned to his feet and nailed a big clothesline and a curb stomp for a two count.  In two minutes, it was already better than Martinez’ bout at Manhattan Mayhem last weekend.

Martinez charged but was kicked off by Scurll.   Martinez came back with a springboard senton off the ropes for a two count.  Martinez was pissed the referee didn’t count three.   They were really taking it to each other.  Scurll got busted open above the eye from one of the shots.  He nailed a DDT on Martinez.  Really hard hitting pace thus far.

Martinez missed a kick and Scurll unloaded with some chops.  Martinez grabbed him for a powerbomb but Scurll slipped out.  Scurll attacked and reversed a suplex into a brainbuster for a two count.   Scurll worked over his leg, trying to take the bigger man down.  He went to the outside, seeking something under the ring.  Whatever he got, he hid in his tights.  Referee Paul Turner saw it and argued with Scurll.  Marty went to grab him, but a bunch of security guards interceded.   Martinez nailed an insane looking running dive over the guard rail, wiping everyone out.

Martinez destroyed the guards, then set up a table outside.  He placed Scurll atop of it and went for a springboard senton to the outside, but Scurll escaped.  Martinez crashed through the table.  Scurll muscled him and nailed a piledriver for a two count.

Martinez grabbed his fingers and went for the finger snap, but Martinez was too strong.  He grabbed Scurll who nailed a forward roll for a two count.  Scurll unloaded with a series of stomps.  Martinez came back but missed the ripcord kick.  He almost nailed the referee, who cowered.  Scurll acted as if he was going to throw powder at Martinez but instead kicked him low and rolled up Martinez for the pin.

Your winner, Marty Scurll!

Probably the best showing for Martinez to date, these two just let It rip.  Very entertaining match!
