LUCHA UNDERGROUND SEASON FOUR SPOILERS

By Mike Johnson on 2018-02-26 09:36:00

Lucha Underground filmed the first episodes of its fourth season for the El Rey Network over the weekend in Los Angeles.  The following spoilers notes are courtesy www.SoCalUncensored.com's Steve Bryant.  We thank them for their assistance and invite anyone looking for news and events in that area to visit their excellent website.

At the end of season three LU promoter Dario Cueto was shot in the chest by Winter. As he was passing out, he dialed his father on the phone.  The season four tapings began with a 10 bell salute to Cueto, interrupted by his father, Antonio Cueto. His father is being played by the exact same actor that plays Dario, Luis Fernandez-Gil, but in makeup to make him look older. It is unclear if Antonio Cueto is a new character or is supposed to be Dario Cueto pretending to be his father. Antonio Cuerto then declared that there would be an Aztec Warfare match.

The Aztec Warfare match included most of the returning series regulars, but also had the return of Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez to the promotion. Tommy Dreamer and Jesse Godderz both made their Lucha Underground debuts. Pentagon Dark won the Aztec Warfare match and retained the Lucha Underground championship with the victory.

Dante Fox was not at the tapings, so he was replaced in the trios championship team by Son of Havoc. The current trios champions are Son of Havoc, Killshot, and The Mack.

There was a dark match with Aerostar facing Sammy Guevara and Jason Cade in their Lucha Underground debuts. Aerostar won the match.

Former WWE World champion Jack Swagger, under his real name Jake Hager, worked the second and third day of the tapings.  He worked a dark match on the first set and on the third set, wrestled Sammy Guevara., defeating him and attacking him after.

Chelsea Green made her debut with Lucha Underground, working a four way agains with Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan), Marty “the Moth” Martinez, and Exolicious (NYC area talent Sonny Kiss) with Marty scring the win.

Mil Muertes defeated Crane and Fenix in a "Three Ways to the Grave" casket match at Friday’s tapings, where both Crane and Fenix were placed in separate caskets.

Lucha Underground champion Pentagon Black defeated Brian Cage on the third set of tapings.

LU is taping again from 3/1-3/3 and will be filming backstage segments for the new season through the week.
