UPDATE ON THE PLANNED VINCE MCMAHON MOVIE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-01-16 14:49:00

PWInsider.com broke last year that Bradley Cooper had been offered the role of Vince McMahon in Tristar Pictures' Pandemonium, the life story of WWE's Chairman and CEO and has been is awaiting an updated version of the film's screenplay before making a decision on whether to take on the role.

PWInsider.com has confirmed that the updated screenplay has been completed and turned into the studio.  Should they approve, it will be sent on to Cooper and his team.

Plans have been for the film to begin filming in the Spring of 2018, but that has always been contingent on getting casting completed and a final, approved shooting script in place.

The script to Pandemonium was originally written by Craig A. Williams (who wrote Disney's live action Underdog adaptation few years back) back in 2015 and has undergone several drafts.   The belief was that once WWE Studios became involved with the project, the existing script would undergo heavy rewrites to remove some of aspects of the film that the McMahon family would not be happy with.    That has now happened.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team that directed the pilot for excellent NBC drama This is Us are attached to direct Pandemonium.   Their most feature film was Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, which starred Tina Fey.  Michael Luisi (head of WWE Studios, which came on board after the script was bouncing around Hollywood independent of WWE) and Aperture Entertainment's Adam Goldworn will produce.  Charlie Gogolak of Zaftig Films is attached as Executive Producer..
