One of the most talked about independent promotions in the world, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will return to Reseda, CA tomorrow Friday 1/12 at the American Legion Hall.  The show, the latest "Mystery Vortex" event from the promotion, will feature a completely unadvertised event with no talents or matches announced.

The promotion continues to be a most unique nexus by forgoing potential live streaming and iPPV revenue, realizing that by stepping into that world, they would rupture the political balance they are able to maintain using so many different talents who have different contractual responsibilities to different companies.  Instead, they simply present live events that are taped for later DVD distribution via

Five Star Wrestling in the UK announced current 5 Star champion John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, Jake Hager (fka Jack Swagger), Adam Maxted, Chris Masters, Carlito, PJ Black, Moose, ‘Eddie Ryan, Zack Gibson, Rampage Brown, El Ligero, Dave Mastiff, Big Grizzly, Nathan Cruz, Charlie Sterling, Jack Jester, Kid Fite, Lou King Sharp, and Joey Axl are the core roster for their weekly Thursday night live series, which will begin airing on 2/1 on Freesports TV.

The series will air on Freesports on Freeview (channel 95), Sky (channel 424), Freesat (channel 252), Talk Talk TV (channel 95) and BT TV (channel 95), airing from 7 - 10 PM locally.  The three hour broadcasts will then be edited into one hour highlight shows that will air on Saturday and Sundays on the same network with the idea of syndicating the series internationally.  They are touting this as the first-ever live broadcast British wrestling series.

The announced dates for the promotion, all of which are planned to broadcast live on Freesports TV:

2/1 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool
2/8 at the Metro Radio Arena in New Castle.

2/15 at the Fly DSA Arena in Sheffield.

2/22 at the Plymouth Pavilions in Plymouth.

3/1 at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Ireland

3/8 at the Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen.

3/22 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester.

3/29 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

4/5 at the Genting Arena in Birmingham.

4/19 at the Dundee Ice Arena in Dundee.

4/26 at the Silver Blades Ice Arena in Blackburn.

5/10 at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

With all the focus on the departure of Brad Stutts as booker and lead announcer from North Carolina's CWF Mid-Atlantic, it's easy to forget that the promotion is set to kick off their 2018 officially this weekend with a return to the Sportatorium in Gibsonville, NC on Saturday 1/13.

Announced for the event are three singles matches with heel contingent The All-Stars (Roy Wilkins, Arik Royal, & Mace Li) competing against mystery opponents as well as Chet Sterling vs. Ethan Alexander Sharpe, Aric Andrews vs. Cam Carter and Jesse Adler vs. Cain Justice.    Obviously, there will be a new direction for a lot of stories here and the mystery opposition leaves a big window for surprise appearances.

One would think Trevor Lee would miss the show due to Impact Wrestling commitments.

Speaking of CWF, director John Philapavage ("Barbed Wire City") is working on a documentary about talents in the company, titled "Boys of Gibsonville."

With the 2018 Royal Rumble PPV in just a few weeks, of course, there will be a lot of independent wrestling fortuitously timed for WWE's visit to the city of Brotherly Love.

Saturday 1/27, New England's Beyond Wrestling will run the CHIKARA WrestleFactory at 2 PM.  The show is already sold out and will air as an iPPV on the streaming subscription service.

On Sunday afternoon 1/28 prior to the Rumble PPV, CHIKARA will run their WrestleFactory school in Philly at 2 PM with Oceanea & Merlok vs. Crab & Crawdad as well as Ophidian vs. 17 announced.   That show will air on the CHIKARAtopia streaming subscription site.

Over the Top Wrestling, a promotion that has done a great job at cultivating talent and servicing fans in Ireland over the last several years, has an event on Sunday 1/14 in Dublin at the Ringside Club at the National Stadium.  Dubbed "Contenders 5", this will be the latest in a series of ongoing events from the promotion designed to spotlight up and coming talents as they face established names.  Scheduled for this week's event are Jordan Devlin vs. Darren Kearney, Doug Williams vs. Michael May, Dave Mastiff vs. LJ Cleary, Nathan Martin vs. El Phantasmo, B Cool & Debbie Keitel vs. Gunther Isaak & Raven Creed and Scotty Davis vs. A Kid.

Upstate Pro Wrestling will return to Rochester, NY on Saturday 1/13 headlined by Mattick vs. Sean Carr vs. Nick Ando for the UPW title as well as Colin Delaney and more appearing.

CHIKARA will run their annual "National Pro Wrestling Show" event on 2/18.
