UPDATE ON MATT CAPPOTELLI'S BATTLE WITH BRAIN CANCER

By Mike Johnson on 2017-12-12 09:10:00

WRDB-TV in Louisville, Kentucky featured a story on former Tough Enough winner and WWE developmental talent Matt Cappotelli, 38, and his ongoing battle against brain cancer, specifically Doctors a Grade 4 glioblastoma tumor, the most deadly form of the disease.

After being cancer-free for ten years, Cappotelli is again battling the disease, only this time, only 90% of the tumor was able to be removed as the remainder is too close to his brain stem for it to be operable.   Cappotelli's diagnosis is terminal and most patients only live for five years following this diagnosis.

Cappotelli's battle with the cancer this time around has left him with effects that are similar to those suffering from Parkinson's Disease deal eith - slowed speech, emotional response, motor skills and function.  So, Cappotelli works out every day in his garage, despite everything else, hoping that by keeping himself as physically fit as possible, it will help with the battle ahead.

Cappotelli is also being aided by a device known as The Optune, which looks like a swimming cap but actually sends pulses to the brain to help prevent the cancer cells from dividing correctly, causing them to die as they divide, preventing growth.  Cappotelli wears the device 18 hours a day.

"Though it seems unfortunate, I want it to be portrayed as a story of hope ... unending hope," Cappotelli told the news station.

There is an ongoing Gofund campaign to assist Cappotelli and his family.  For details on that and how you can contribute, click here.

Thanks to Paul Jordan and everyone else who sent the story along.
