GLOW NAMED BEST TV SERIES OF 2017 BY ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

By Mike Johnson on 2017-12-08 08:55:00

Entertainment Weekly has named Netflix's GLOW as the best television series of 2017, describing the series as "The silliest, smartest, greatest TV event of the year. Creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensche went to TV history for inspiration, returning to the golden age of syndication to conjure up the pop epic for our streaming age."

The series, which been renewed for a currently shooting second season, is based on 1980s women's promotion The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Stating the series has the "best cast in television", EW notes, "GLOW's genius is how the goofy, candy-crazy grandeur of the whole endeavor becomes an empowering triumph. These women are building a community – and declaring ownership over their own selves."
