WHO SHOULD FACE RONDA ROUSEY, DOLPH’S NEW GIMMICK, CORGAN’S NWA AND MORE

Does it seem at all odd to you that Monday had a number of spots about Bobby Heenan, but he was never mentioned on SD?

To me?  No.  I know that some people found it odd, but I didn’t.  I look at Raw as the mothership and most watched show.  So it didn’t bother me, but I can understand if people wanted to see a Heenan tribute on Smackdown too.

It's incredible that Ronda Rousey, the biggest name in MMA not named Conor McGregor, has seemingly fallen right into WWE's lap.  When you consider that her chances of returning to the UFC are as close to zero as you can get, along with the horsewomen storyline that played out during the Mae Young Classic, is it a sure bet that she has at least 1 match in WWE within the next year?  Given how big Ronda's name value is, would you consider WWE insane if they booked her match at any other event than Wrestlemania?  And finally, if this is the case and you could only book Ronda for one match, would you rather book her in the obvious 4-on-4 WWE horsewomen vs MMA horsewomen match, or, given their previous Wrestlemania interaction, in a 1-on-1 match with Stephanie McMahon?

Rousey WAS the biggest name in UFC.  Two losses took that away from her.  I can’t say it’s a sure bet, but it’s a good one.  I would save her match for Mania, but have her start appearing in January.  No way I would have her wrestle Stephanie, a 41 year old mother of three.  I would have her wrestle either Charlotte or Nia Jax if it were a singles match.  Whether I had Ronda work single or in a tag would depend on how quickly she picked up wrestling.

Where are they going with the whole Dolph Ziggler impersonation thing?  It's not exactly the type of gimmick that will propel someone to the top of the card.

I can’t tell you.  So far, it’s been terrible and isn’t helping Dolph at all.  It just drags on every time he does it.

Is it by design or coincidence that all of the winners of the tournament specials so far have been babyfaces, even though the true stars of the tournaments seem to be heels (ie. Pete Dunne, Shayna Baszler)?

TJP also won, The Cruiserweight tourney, and was a babyface.  I say coincidence.

Billy Corgan bought the NWA  but he's not renewing any of the licenses that other promotions have that have carried the NWA  banner and thus had to change the name of their own promotions (NWA Smoky Mountain, NWA Supreme Pro Wrestling and recently NWA New South, ran by Reno Riggins is now known as the American Wrestling Alliance with Damien Wayne as their first champion). Do you think this is a smart idea for Corgan to allow these licenses to expire? Wouldn't have been better for him to HAVE these promotions so that way he'd have a vast talent pool to use once HE gets HIS NWA off the ground and rolling? I think this is a bad move business wise and burns a few bridges that really didn't have to be burned. What's your take on this?

I see it differently from you.  The NWA, in its current form, is basically just indy wrestling with initials attached.  If Corgan is going to make it something bigger, it will probably mean that he has a TV deal and that is worth far more than affiliations with indy groups.  If he has TV, he will also have access to the talent.
