'I DRANK TOO MUCH' - RIC FLAIR DISCUSSES HIS RECENT HEALTH ISSUES, HIS NEW WWE BOOK, WHETHER HE CAN STILL BE RIC FLAIR WITHOUT DRINKING AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-09-22 09:53:00

Ric Flair was interviewed on ESPN Radio's Dan LeBatard show, discussing his recent health issues and the release of his WWE book Second Nature.  During the interview he admitted "I drank too much" and that drinking after wrestling became a way of life and that set him on the stage to his health issues that landed him in the hospital last August and on life support for ten days:

Flair noted that he'll be using a colostomy bag for the next six months, but has left the rehab center and is now home.  He said that obviously he cannot do anything in sports but beyond that he feels great.   He said that while he was on life support, he could hear things going on around him and compared it to dreaming on and on without being able to wake up.  He said they had him tied down because even in that state, he was trying to get up out of bed.

Flair's quote about never drinking again led to him being asked if he can still be Ric Flair and the life of the party without drinking and he said, "Yes."  Flair said he's going to learn how to occupy his time and not drinking again will not be hard.  He said that when he went to rehab several years ago, he started smoking cigarettes to replace drinking and found it harder to give those up than he has found giving up drinking.
