I wonder if Trips gets frustrated and expresses it to Vince when his NXT talents are misused when they get to the main roster?

He’s a good company man and he won’t state that publicly but logic would dictate that he has to be at least a little frustrated by it.  I remember on one of the NXT conference calls the subject came up and kind of sighed and said that the main roster is Vince McMahon’s domain.  He’s a smart guy.  He knows the lay of the land and on the plus side he has a lot of leeway before the talents get to the main roster.

I've heard it stated by several people that at least part of the reason Vince McMahon doesn't like tag teams is because he has to pay twice as many guys for one match.   While I can understand this point financially on the independents where guys are paid per appearance, aren't WWE performers contracted and get paid whether they perform or not?  Furthermore, if this is indeed Vince's feelings, in all actuality shouldn't it be the reverse?   Shouldn't Vince want to put tag teams together to give guys work instead of paying them to stay home or hang out in the back and not be utilized?

Several people are wrong.  Vince McMahon prefers singles stars to tag teams.  He feels, and I agree with him, that singles stars are the bigger draws so he would rather create two singles stars than one tag team act.

There's always been stories of main eventers like Hogan, Cena, HBK, and Triple H being huge backstage politicians. But one star I've never really heard of being a prima donna in the back is The Rock. What was Rock's reputation like during his main full-time run with WWE from 1996 to 2002? Did he ever allegedly try to bury anyone or go on power trips?

Being a top guy means wielding power, it always has.  The Rock is one guy I heard very little about in that area.  In fact, off of the top of my head I don’t remember anything like that.  He was a guy that was brought up in the business and respected it, plus he knew that no matter what they booked him into, if he got the mic in his hand afterward he would be golden.  He was a guy that could have been a huge diva and never was.  I respect him as much, if not more, than any top guy ever.  He was pretty much the perfect top guy.

Speaking of The Rock, do you think he has one more match in him at a WrestleMania? I'd hate to see a seconds-long victory over Erick Rowan be his final match ever.

He absolutely has it in him.  He’s in great shape and only 45 years old.  But, he also got hurt in his match against John Cena and that scares film makers that cast him.  If he gets hurt in a match, that delays their projects and costs them big money.  So at this point, I think it will take either a conscious decision to not do movies for a three month period or for there to be a fortuitous break in his schedule.  But acting is his priority, as it should be, and that has to come first for him.

Did you ever have a favorite championship belt design? Mine was the WWF World Tag Team Championship from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. I ask because I pine for the days when wrestling championships didn't resemble oversized Super Bowl rings that had little to no actual gold plating on them.

No, I didn’t.  I have always respected the Title and what it means, but the actual belts have never really interested me, except for when they are hideous, like the Divas Title belt was.
