PREDICTING AND PREVIEWING ROH SUPERCARD OF HONOR XI TOMORROW

By Bill Bodkin on 2017-03-31 15:48:00

To order Supercard of Honor, download The Fite App.  Velvet Sky will be chatting with fans on Fite during the entire PPV.  You can download the Fite App for free for your cell phone or mobile device, by clicking here.    The App can be streamed from your phone to Samsung smart TVs as well as Roku devices, as long as the devices are on the same wifi network.  To order the show directly and watch it on the Fite.TV website, click here.

On Saturday, Ring of Honor presents Super Card of Honor, and on paper this looks to be one hell of a show. This is an extremely interesting show because there's a lot of questions where certain performers will be going after this show both literally (e.g. The Hardys), and creatively.

The commentary team will be Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana and Kevin Kelly.

Now normally I wouldn't care about how who's announcing. However, I think we need to keep Colt Cabana in the back of our minds during this show. One year ago he made his surprise return to Ring of Honor to challenge Jay Lethal for the ROH Title. That angle and match was sadly derailed with the formation of The Bullet Club in Ring of Honor which happened during the Lethal/Cabana title match.

At the 15th Anniversary show we saw Colt Cabana show his frustration in a post-show segment with Kelly and Riccaboni. He stated that he was an ROH original, and was booked only to announce. He talked about his lack of title opportunities, and how he's never held the ROH Title.

To me, this is the perfect time to insert Cabana into the World Title picture and begin a feud with Christopher Daniels. It's a fresh idea -- Daniels as the face, Cabana as the heel. I think this could be something special.

*Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia vs. Beer City Bruiser & Silas Young.

This will be a fun opening match. I foresee Kingdom 2.0 aka Taven & Marseglia winning this. Why? Because they need the W more than Bruiser and Young. Bruiser and Young are perfect in their roles as nasty old school heels who could work the opening match, or compete for the tag titles on any given show. Kingdom needs this win though. Since TK O'Ryan's unfortunate injury, they dropped the six-man belts and are now set adrift in a sea of "what happens now?" These two need to be established as legit future contenders for the belts, and this is where the road should begin.

Winners: Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia

*Kazarian vs. Punishment Martinez.

I'm not overly familiar with Martinez's work, but from what I have seen he's got a Mike Awesome vibe to him -- a big, agile machine that's on a role. Kaz is the perfect opponent -- he'll make Martinez look like a million bucks, and will lay out for a really strong match.  I think ROH is looking to create something here with Martinez, especially given the ever changing nature of this roster. Look for Martinez to go over here looking strong.

Winner: Punishment Martinez

*Will Ospreay & Volador Jr vs. Dragon Lee & Jay White.

The only reason I dread this match is because I cannot type fast enough to keep up with this action. If you love lucha libre, and high flying action...this is your match. I am really excited to see what these guys can pull off, especially Lee and White who I've never seen perform before. This is a real pick 'em match, but I'm going with Lee and White because they seem to be around ROH more than Ospreay and Volador.

Winners: Dragon Lee & Jay White

*ROH Six Man Tag Team champions The Briscoes & Bully Ray vs. The Guerrillas of Destiny & Hangman Page.

This most likely will not (and should not) be a one and done match.  I would love to see a street fight (maybe in New York?) with these six competitors. I think it'd be brutal, and bloody - just the way a good street fight should be. I predict this will be a bit of slower paced match, especially if comes off the heels of the Ospreay match. Hangman has drastically improved, as have Guerrillas of Destiny...and that's why I see them taking the belts. There's "dissension" in the ROH Bullet Club, so why not shore it up (for a few minutes at least) by putting some gold back into the fold. No matter who wins, this should be totally bad ass.

Winners: AND NEW Six Man Tag Team Champs - Bullet Club

*ROH TV champ Marty Scurll vs. Adam Cole.

This is another pick 'em. Both men are bona fide amazing heels who the crowd loves. I really don't see The Villain losing just yet. He's really hitting a nice groove in ROH, and I think they really need to start pushing him to the forefront more consistently (I know, his schedule doesn't allow this most likely). So that's why keeping the gold on him makes the most sense. It also makes sense for Cole to lose given the aforementioned Bullet Club "dissension." This is going to be an outstanding match.

Winner: "The Villain" Marty Scurll

*Cody Rhodes vs. Jay Lethal - Texas Bullrope Match.

This one intrigues me. Traditionally, bull rope matches are one of two things -- bloodbaths, or super lame. I'm really hoping they don't shenanigan up this match with a million run-ins, and gaga. I want to see these two guys go at it. Besides, you can save gaga and shenanigans for the tag title match. I feel, and I could be totally wrong, that both guys are kind of square pegs in round holes right now in ROH, and they need to move past this feud in order and get into something fresh. I think Lethal gets the win here because he needs it the most, while Cody's name and BC affiliation keeps him credible and the loss won't hurt. Then again...can you bet against a Rhodes in a bull rope match? I guess I am.

Winner: Jay Lethal

*ROH champion Christopher Daniels vs. Dalton Castle

There's no way they take the belt off Daniels this quick, right? Well...they just might. Dalton Castle is one of the premier performers in ROH, and they cannot let him be an "also ran" forever. He always seems like he's the "next guy in line" for a shot and never wins. ROH needs to be careful with this, or they could ruin his marquee value. With that being said, I don't see them taking it off Daniels and making him a transitional champion. I think Castle gets his day, but not today. I'm calling this as the sleeper match of the night. Everyone's thinking about The Hardys, and might be forgetting about this one. This match will have a ton of comedy spots, and some damn fine wrestling. I think the announcers will really heighten the drama on this. Can't wait!

Winner: Christopher Daniels

*ROH Tag Team champions Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. The Young Bucks in a Ladder Match.

Oh this is going to be GLORIOUS. I expect shenanigans, gaga, highspots, comedy, and moments that will have me fearing for human safety. Everyone raved about their last match, and given that this is a Hardy specialty (and Bucks are no slouches at this match), this will be one the seven deities will most humbly enjoy. I think the outcome seems obvious -- Hardys are going to WWE (we think?) and they'll drop the belts. But never underestimate the greatest tag team of all space and time.  In the end...I'm going to go against the grain...The Hardys DELETE The Bucks of Youth, and retain...thus making us more confused about their future.

Winners: The Hardys
