FINLEY INJURED, JIM ROSS LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO TOMORROW BEFORE RUMBLE, EVOLVE'S RING FROM HELL AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-01-28 11:50:00

New Japan star David Finley, son of Fit Finlay, wrote on Twitter that he has a torn labrum.  That's the same injury Finn Balor had last summer, so he is looking at time off.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will hold his one man show tomorrow at 2 PM Central at the Improv-San Antonio Rivercenter, 849 East Commerce in downtown San Antonio. I've seen the show three times over the last few years and it's always a lot of fun.  For information, call (210) 229-1420. The VIP event meet & greet begins at 12 p.m. and doors open to the general public at 2 p.m. with a start time of 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.rivercentercomedyclub.com.

For those who have asked, EVOLVE has secured a new ring for their show today in San Antonio, Texas after the ropes broke three times last night.  Peter Kasaa is said to be doing OK after his scary fall.  The main event with Chris Hero vs. Keith Lee saw both the top and the middle ropes break in two equally frightening moments.  The fact the company got through the show with no major injuries is a miracle and really, that ring should be burned in a viking funeral.  There is absolutely no excuse for talents, especially on a stage the one EVOLVE tries to project itself as being on, to be competing in a ring that poor especially with the Flosports deal and money coming in.  I'm glad to see the company took initiatives to fix the situation because while the Hero vs. Lee match was certainly more unique and different once they had to start improvising, it was also a more dangerous environment and I doubt that the last thing Hero or WWE or even Gabe Sapolsky wanted was for Hero to get hurt right before going back to WWE full-time.  One of the reasons WWE stopped allowing talents to take third party in-ring bookings in the late 1990s was a talent getting hurt in a faulty ring (I believe in Puerto Rico) so any promotions looking to work with WWE should make sure all their equipment is up to par, every time.

The River City Wrestling event in San Antonio last night is said to have drawn in the 800 range.  We are seeking live reports and results from the show, which featured Jeff Jarrett, LAX, Noelle Foley, Hornswoggle vs. Frank the Clown of "Holy Foley" fame, Jim Ross and more.
