ROH TELEVISION REPORT: DECADE OF EXCELLENCE TOURNAMENT CONTINUES, YOUNG BUCKS TALK ABOUT MATT HARDY, AND MORE

We begin this week’s show with a look at the Decade of Excellence tournament match between Christopher Daniels and Mark Briscoe.  Daniels advanced.  Daniels says that men had a dream of what wrestling would be in 2002.  One of the men they saw in that role was Christopher Daniels.  His destiny was to become the Ring of Honor Champion.  People wonder how he can go at the same speed in 2017, it is because excellence does not expire. 
We are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and your announcers are Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness

Match Number One:  BJ Whitmer (with Punishment Martinez and Kevin Sullivan) versus Jay Briscoe in a Decade of Excellence Tournament First Round Match

Briscoe pushes Whitmer to the ropes.  Briscoe with a side head lock and shoulder tackle but Whitmer stays on his feet.  Whitmer with a chop but Briscoe with European uppercuts.  Briscoe with a head butt.  Whitmer with a thumb to the eye and he sends Jay into the turnbuckles and chopshim.  Whitmer with chops to the back of the head.  Jay is sent into the turnbuckles and Whitmer kicks him.  Whitmer with more chops.

Jay with a running forearm to the head and he head butts Whitmer.  Jay with a punch and Irish whip followed by a clothesline.  Whitmer with a clothesline but Jay with a head scissors and clothesline for a near fall.  Briscoe with a forearm and Sullivan grabs the ankle as Whitmer distracts the referee.  Briscoe goes to the floor and Martinez distracts Briscoe.  Whitmer tries to attack from behind but Briscoe moves.  Whitmer with a thumb to the eyes and then he sends Briscoe into the guardrails.

We go to commercial.
We are back and Martinez pulls Briscoe groin first into the ring post.  Whitmer gets a near fall.  Briscoe with a back elbow followed by jabs and a European uppercut.  Briscoe with a drop kick and Whitmer goes to the floor.  Briscoe with a suicide dive and both men go hard into the guardrails.  Briscoe sends Whitmer into the ring and Briscoe with a neck breaker for a near fall.  Briscoe with head butts to Whitmer.

Whitmer with a forearm and German suplex for a near fall.  Whitmer sets for an exploder but Briscoe blocks it.  Briscoe with a Death Valley Driver for a near fall.  Briscoe with punches.  Whitmer spits at Briscoe and Jay kicks BJ.  Briscoe with European uppercuts but Whitmer with a forearm and exploder for a near fall. 

Sullivan hands Whitmer the Golden Spike and he prepares to hit Jay but Mark Briscoe comes out and hits a suicide dive on Martinez.  Jay with a kick and Jay Driller for the three count.

Winner:  Jay Briscoe

After the match, Whitmer takes the mic and he says that it is written that one must be sacrificed.  Next week, we finish this.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Two:  Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser versus Alex Reynolds and John Silver

Bruiser and Young kick Silver and Reynolds during the Code of Honor ceremony.  Young with a forearm but Reynolds with a springboard arm drag and drop kick.  Silver tags in and both men kick Young and hit a double face buster for a near fall.  Young with a knee and Bruiser tags in.  Bruiser sends Silver into the corner and Silver with a kick.  Silver tries for a suplex but that was not a good idea.  Reynolds tags in and they hit a double drop kick but Bruiser stays on his feet and Young makes the tag.

Young and Reynolds exchange punches and then Young holds Reynolds with a waist lock as Bruiser hits a clothesline and Young uses the force of the clothesline for a German suplex and he gets a near fall.  Young with a forearm and Reynolds fights out of the corner for a moment but Bruiser pulls Reynolds down.  Bruiser tags in and chops Reynolds.  Young tags back in and he hits a running forearm and Bruiser with a running hip into the corner.  Young with a running boot and Bruiser with a cannonball.  Young gets a near fall.

Young with a cravate.  Reynolds with punches but Young with a forearm to stop Reynolds.  Young with an Irish whip but Reynolds with a kick.  Reynolds avoids Young and tags in Silver.  Silver with forearms and a biel.  Silver with another biel and Young hits an enzuigiri on Bruiser. Silver with a suplex on Bruiser but Young with a kick because he is the legal man in the match.  Young with an Irish whip but he misses a charge into the corner.  Silver with a round kick and Reynolds with a forearm.  Silver with another enzuigiri.  Reynolds with a Codebreaker and Silver with a German suplex for a near fall.

Reynolds kicks and punches Bruiser.  Bruiser sends Silver to the apron.  Bruiser with a Falcon Arrow to Reynolds.  Bruiser with a clothesline in the corner as Young kicks Silver from the apron.  Bruiser with a second clothesline and Young with a slingshot double stomp.  Bruiser goes to the turnbuckles for an Earthquake Splash and Young with a jackknife cover for the three count.

Winners:  Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser

After the match, Silas gets on the mic and he says they have been looking for that third man.  After seeing those new six man tag titles, it got him thinking.  Maybe there is one guy who might be right.  Maybe there is one guy who could be the perfect fit.  Silas says he has a surprise for Bruiser.

Bull James makes his way to the ring.

Silas tells Bruiser that Bull is a no nonsense type of guy like them.  He can get hit hard and hit back harder.  Silas says that Bull likes to have 10, 20, 30 beers after the shows.  Silas says Bruiser knows what he is thinking.  He’s not the guy.
Bruiser and Young attack Bull and they kick him in the corner.  Bruiser with an Irish whip and splash into the corner.  Bruiser goes up top and hits a frog splash.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Three:  Cheeseburger, Will Ferrara, and Joey Daddiego versus Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan, and Vinnie Marseglia in a Non Title Match

Marseglia kicks Cheeseburger before the bell rings and then O’Ryan and Taven attack Daddiego and Ferrara. Cheeseburger is left in the ring and Cheeseburger avoids a power bomb.  Cheeseburger with a head scissors and Daddiego with a running drop kick to O’Ryan.  Ferrara sends Cheeseburger into Taven.  Marseglia stops charges into the corner but Daddiego catches Marseglia and he hits a fallaway slam. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and O’Ryan kicks Ferrara but Ferrara tries to work out of the corner and O’Ryan stops him.  O’Ryan with a backpack stunner while Marseglia hits a running boot and O’Ryan gets a near fall.  Taven tags in and O’Ryan accidentally spears Taven.  Cheeseburger is tagged in and he chops Taven and hits the Kobashi chops.  Taven pushes Cheeseburger away.  Cheeseburger with a super kick and kip up.  TK grabs Cheeseburger and then Marseglia takes care of Daddiego.  Ferrara with a leaping flatliner to Marseglia.

Cheeseburger with the Shotei, but he misses one on O’Ryan.  O’Ryan with a thumb to the eye and a pump handle tombstone to Cheeseburger followed by a Swanton from Marseglia and a Frog Splash by Taven for the three count.

Winners:  Vinnie Marseglia, TK O’Ryan, and Matt Taven

We take a look at the Matt Hardy video that aired after the Young Bucks’ victory over the Briscoes at Final Battle.

Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson make their way to the ring.
Matt apologizes for losing his voice because he was screaming for joy after signing with his brother the most lucrative contract in Ring of Honor history.

Nick says at Final Battle, when they beat the Briscoes, it made them the best tag team in company history.  When they were celebrating, the lights turned out and Matt Hardy appeared on that screen and said he was coming for the Young Bucks.  These two spot monkeys cannot be broken and they won’t be deleted.

The lights go out and a drone appears in the arena.  Nick and Matt super kick the drone.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Four:  Colt Cabana versus Chris Sabin (with Alex Shelley) in a Decade of Excellence First Round Match

They lock up and Cabana with a wrist lock.  Sabin with an arm drag but Cabana counters.  Cabana goes for a drop kick but Sabin blocks it but Cabana counters and gets a near fall.  They lock up and Cabana with a clean break but then he chops Sabin.  Cabana with an Irish whip but he runs into a boot.  Sabin with a drop kick to the knee and he gets a near fall with a rollup.  Sabin with kicks.  Cabana with a sunset flip but Sabin rolls through and kicks Cabana and gets a near fall.

Sabin goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.  Cabana backs Sabin into the corner and misses a chop.  Sabin does not miss a chop.  Cabana with a wrist lock but Sabin reverses it.  Cabana gets the referee in the way and he punches Sabin and sends him to the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Sabin with a punch and Cabana with an elbow.  We see Cabana punching Sabin in front of Alex Shelley during the commercial break.  Cabana with an elbow drop and he gets a near fall.  Cabana with a camel clutch.  Sabin bites the hand to get out of the hold.  Sabin punches Cabana and Irish whips him.  Cabana with an elbow and he goes to the turnbuckles and misses the double jump splash when Sabin rolls out of the way.

Cabana runs into a boot in the corner and Sabin with an enzuigiri and a missile drop kick.  Sabin goes to the apron and he misses a kick.  Cabana misses a chop and Sabin with a kick to the chest.  Sabin rolls Cabana into the ring and hits a tornado DDT and Sabin gets a near fall.  Sabin with a Yakuza kick in the corner and then he puts Cabana on the turnbuckles but Cabana stops Sabin.  Cabana with a jumping hip attack for a near fall. 

The Boys come to the ring and they fan Cabana.  Cabana swings at one of the boys and Sabin with a Tornado small package for the three count.

Winner:  Chris Sabin
