LOS ANGELES LAKERS PRESIDENT JEANIE BUSS TALKS BACKING WOW WOMEN OF WRESTLING, PROMOTION TO HOLD TV TAPING NEXT WEEK IN LOS ANGELES

By Mike Johnson on 2016-09-19 21:32:00

The long-gestating rebirth of WOW, Women of Wrestling, received some big media attention over the weekend from The Los Angeles Times as they ran an interview with Los Angeles Lakers President Jeanie Buss, who heads up the promotion alongside David McLane (the founder of both the original GLOW and previous incarnations of WOW) and is the financial backer.

During the interview, Buss described WOW as her passion project and that she believed that WOW showed that women, "can become a professional athlete and make a living in this country and be able to entertain and keep training."  She also said that the product features "women resolving their own issues, not running to a man to save them."  Buss noted that the hope is to transition their current free content (on YouTube) into a paid subscription model while also seeking out potential television partners and that within five years, that the company is a touring brand.

WOW will be running a full fledged TV Taping on Thursday 9/29 in Los Angeles at the Belasco Theatre at 6 PM.  If anyone attends, we are seeking live reports.

The promotion actually ran a preview event on Friday 9/16 in Long Beach, CA at the Seaport Marina Hotel with Kiara Dillon defeating former WWE developmental talent Buggy Nova, Khloe Hurtz (Katie Forbes from Wildkat Wrestling in Louisiana) and Selina Major defeating Spike (Hudson Envy) by DQ when Riot interfered.    Rob Van Dam was backstage at the event.

The promotion will hold another free event on 9/30 outside under the Palms, across from the Marina Hotel.
