WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: OWENS AND JERICHO VERSUS STYLES AND CESARO, CORBIN TALKS, REIGNS AND STYLES FACE OFF, VAUDEVILLAINS DEBUT, AND MORE

Tonight’s show starts off with a look back at what happened in Arlington on Sunday night.

We are in Houston, Texas and your announcers are Mauro Ranallo, Byron Saxton, and Jerry Lawler.

WWE World Champion Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring.

Roman says at Wrestlemania, he fought the Authority and he won.  He took back his WWE World Championship.  When you have this, everybody wants it, so it is one versus all.  You can love him or you can hate him.  He is not a good guy, he is not a bad guy, he is THE Guy.  He has to do what he has to do next and that is beat AJ Styles.

AJ’s music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring. 

AJ tells Roman he had a heck of a Wrestlemania.  Truth is, he came out here to congratulate you on becoming the new WWE Champion. 

They shake hands.

AJ holds on to Roman’s hand and AJ says that he had a heck of a Monday Night Raw.  He beat three superstars to become the number one contender and he is coming after the title next.  The thing is that he has been all over the world.  He has beaten the best and he has had titles.  In order to be the WWE Champion, if he has to beat THE guy, so be it.

Roman tells AJ that he has not been here long.  In order to be THE Champ, you have to have THE Championship.  In order to have this, you have to beat THE guy.

AJ and Roman stare each other down for a while and Roman says you have beaten a lot of guys all over the world, but you have never beaten him . . . and you never will.  Roman drops the mic and pats AJ on the shoulder before leaving the ring.

We take a look back at Vince putting Shane in charge of Raw this week.

We go to commercial.

Match Number One:  Sin Cara and Kalisto versus Aiden English and Simon Gotch

English and Cara start things off.  They lock up and Cara with a side head lock and shoulder tackle.  Cara with a back body drop to English followed by a slam.  Kalisto tags in and Cara monkey flips Kalisto into a 450 splash for a near fall.  Kalisto with a wrist lock and Cara tags in and hits an elbow from the turnbuckles.

Cara chops and punches English against the ropes.  Cara with a chop.  Gotch makes the blind tag and Cara with a kick and clothesline to send English to the floor.  Gotch with a knee to stop Cara on a suicide dive attempt.  Gotch with a kick and European uppercut.  English tags in and they hit a double chop and double punch.  English gets a near fall.

English with a knee drop.  English with a rear chin lock.  English pulls Cara to the mat and he poses.  English with an Irish whip but he runs into a knee.  Cara with an arm drag to counter a tilt-a-whirl move.  Gotch tags in and so does Kalisto.  Kalisto with a springboard corkscrew splash.  Kalisto wit kicks and an enzuigiri to English on the apron followed by a Listo Kick to Gotch.

Cara sends English to the floor and he follows with a suicide dive.  Gotch with a drop kick to send Cara into the ringside barrier.  Kalisto with a back heel kick and he sets for Salida Del Sol but English makes the blind tag and he helps send Kalisto face first to the mat. English with a front face lock and he tags in Gotch.  Gotch with the Whirling Dervish for the three count.

Winners:  Aiden English and Simon Gotch

We take a look back at photos from the Intercontinental Title Ladder Match from Wrestlemania.

We see highlights from Raw when Miz, with help from his wife Maryse, defeated Zack Ryder to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Before our next match, Ric Flair and Charlotte are at ringside to watch this match.

Match Number Two:  Summer Rae versus Natalya

They lock up and Natalya with a rollup for a near fall.  Natalya with a waist lock but Summer with a standing switch.  Natalya with a fireman’s carry into an arm bar.  Summer with an Irish whip but Summer misses a splash into the corner.  Natalya with a slingshot move and then she runs over Summer and hits a drop kick. 

Summer with a chop and she sends Natalya into the ropes and kicks her to the floor.  Summer goes to the floor and suplexes Natalya on the floor.  Summer sends Natalya back into the ring and she follows and gets a near fall on Natalya.  Summer with a kick to the back.  Summer kicks Natalya a second time.  Summer gets a near fall.  Summer with a Cobra Clutch.

Natalya escapes but Summer with a spinning heel kick and gets a near fall.  Summer sends Natalya into the turnbuckles a few times.  Natalya pushes Summer away and Natalya blocks a spinning heel kick and Natalya with a single leg trip and Natalya applies the Sharpshooter while staring down Charlotte and Summer taps out.

Winner:  Natalya

Natalya tries to get to Charlotte but the referee holds Natalya back on the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a Raw Rebound looking at the Number One Contender Match on Raw.

In case you liked the Fatal Four Way from Raw, these four men will be in a tag team match tonight.

We are back and Maryse comes out to introduce the Intercontinental Champion, and her husband, the Miz.  She says she is the living proof that behind every great man is a great woman.  She says there is no greater man than her husband.

Match Number Three:  Zack Ryder versus Miz (with Maryse) for the Intercontinental Title

They lock up and Miz with a side head lock.  Miz with a shoulder tackle.  Miz tries for the Reality Check but Ryder escapes the neck breaker and Ryder with a near fall on an O’Connor Roll.  Ryder with a back slide and jackknife covers for near falls.  Ryder with a flap jack and then he gets sent to the apron by Miz.  Ryder with a punch and slingshot splash for a near fall.  Miz with a punch.

Miz with a knee to the midsection and he tries for a belly-to-back suplex but Ryder lands on his feet.  Miz clotheslines Ryder over the top rope but Ryder lands on the apron.  Miz charges and goes over the top rope to the floor.  Ryder with a drop kick off the apron and then he sends Miz back into the ring and he gets a near fall. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ryder gets a near fall.  Miz with an Irish whip and Ryder tries to get his knees up but Miz catches Ryder and sends him to the mat.  Miz with a kick to the head.  Miz gets a near fall.  Miz with a rear chin lock but Ryder gets to his feet and he hits a jaw breaker.  Miz hits the Reality Check and gets a near fall.  Miz punches Ryder and then Miz goes with a knee to the back and he chokes Ryder in the ropes.

Miz with a splash to the back and he gets a near fall.  Miz with another rear chin lock.  Ryder with punches but Miz with a knee to the midsection.  Miz tries for a suplex but Ryder lands on his feet and he hits a neck breaker.  Ryder with an elbow and flying clothesline.  Ryder with a clothesline in the corner and then he comes off the turnbuckles but Miz counters with a sit out power bomb for a near fall.

Ryder goes to the apron and Miz misses a shoulder and Ryder with a kick.  Ryder goes for slingshot splash but Miz gets his knees up and then Miz with a DDT for a near fall.  Miz sets for the Skull Crushing Finale but Ryder with elbows.  Ryder with a face plant and elevated elbow drop for a near fall. 

Ryder with a running forearm into the corner and Miz falls in the corner.  Ryder signals for the Broski Boot but Miz goes to the floor and he trips Ryder.  Ryder pulls Miz into the ring post and then Ryder with a baseball slide drop kick.  Ryder with a Broski Boot on the floor.  Ryder sends Miz back into the ring.

Ryder goes up top for the elbow drop and he hits it but Miz kicks out.  Miz with a boot to the head but Ryder with a forearm into the corner followed by more forearms.  Ryder kicks Miz in the corner.  Maryse throws a turnbuckle pad at Ryder and then the referee puts it back, allowing Miz to give Ryder a thumb to the eye followed by the Skull Crushing Finale for the three count.

Winner:  Miz

We go to commercial.

We are back and the Social Outcasts are on the apron. 

Heath Slater says that one of them has to fight Apollo Crews tonight.  Heath says they will do it the old fashioned way, Rock . . . Papers . . . Scissors.  Slater, Dallas, and Rose with scissors while Axel has paper, but he says it is an Axe and the Axe always wins.  Axel YIs as he makes his way into the ring.

Match Number Four:  Apollo Crews versus Curtis Axel (with Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, and Adam Rose)

Axel goes to the floor before locking up and Axel leads the Bo Train.  They celebrate and he returns to the ring but Crews punches Axel to send him over the top rope to the floor.  They lock up and Crews with a shoulder in the corner after blocking a punch.  Crews with punches on the turnbuckles.  Slater and Rose get on the apron.  Slater is able to avoid a clothesline from Crews, but Rose is not as lucky.

Axel with a forearm to Crews to take him down.  Axel with punches and he sends Crews into the turnbuckles.  Axel with kicks and a drop kick.  Slater and Dallas check on Rose, who has not moved.  Axel with a reverse chin lock.  Crews powers out of the hold but Axel with a knee and forearm.  Crews with a drop kick and flying clothesline.  Crews with a standing moonsault for a near fall. 

Bo gets on the apron and then Crews sends Axel into Slater on the apron and Slater is sent into the announce table.  Crews with a jumping enzuigiri followed by the tossed power bomb and the three count.

Winner:  Apollo Crews

We are back with a look at photos from the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The Battle Royal winner, Baron Corbin is in the interview area with his statue and Rich Brennan.  Baron tells Rich to save his questions because he is not going to waste his time.  He has had two matches in the WWE and he won a trophy at Wrestlemania and left a dent in the floor with Dolph Ziggler on Raw.  The End of Days is not coming, it is already here.

Renee Young is in the interview area with Becky Lynch and Becky has a noticeable black eye.  Renee asks Becky about how tough this week has been.  Becky says she has been trying to find the humor in all of this, but nobody else thinks she is funny.  Becky says she is in stitches.  All jokes aside, Sunday was the most brutal match of her life.  You can lose your mind and patience, but she will never lose her passion. 

The most brutal match of her career in front of 101,000 people.  She gave it everything she’s got. She has the scars.  It is about the title.  It is about the heart and passion to be the best.  When Charlotte made it all about herself on Monday, she had to walk away.  She will be back in the title picture and she owes Charlotte for her eye.

Emma says she likes what Charlotte did to her eye.

Becky says that her and Emma go back a long time.


Emma says that they do go back a long time but she made it to the WWE first, but Becky was handed all of these opportunities while Emma was sent to the back of the line.  That is where Becky belongs.
Becky says that since Emma liked her eye so much, she will give her something similar.

Emma tells Becky she will keep an eye out.

We go to commercial.

We are back with Primo and Epico in Puerto Rico and they talk about the flowers of the Commonwealth.  They say it always smells beautiful, unlike where you live.

Match Number Five:  Dean Ambrose versus Tyler Breeze

Dean with a kick and he sends Breeze into the corner and kicks him.  Dean with chops in the corner.  Dean with a back elbow to Breeze.  Dean tries for a belly-to-back suplex but Breeze lands on his feet and hits an enzuigiri.  Breeze with kicks to Dean.

Breeze with an Irish whip but he misses a splash.  Breeze with a drop kick and Dean bounces in the ropes for a clothesline and he follows with the double underhook DDT for the three count.

Winner:  Dean Ambrose

 After the match, Chris Jericho’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring for the main event while Dean makes his way to the back.  Jericho keeps walking without acknowledging Ambrose.  Ambrose stops and stares at Jericho walking to the ring, but he continues to the back.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Goldust is on the phone talking about Shattered Dreams 2 but he is interrupted by R Truth.  Truth says this is about Shattered Dreams Productions and he asks Goldust if they want to do something about it.  They are going to be in Los Angeles next Monday and Truth says he has a friend whose mother’s daddy’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s cat sitter knows a top Hollywood producer and he is giving out auditions.
 

Truth says he will get Goldust an audition.

Match Number Six:  Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens versus AJ Styles and Cesaro

Styles and Jericho start things off and they lock up.  Jericho with a side head lock and Styles sets for the Phenomenal drop kick but Jericho holds on to the ropes.  Styles with a drop kick and he tags in Cesaro.  Styles holds Jericho and Cesaro goes to the turnbuckles and hits a double sledge.  Cesaro with a European uppercut.  Styles tags in and Cesaro with a slam and double stomp followed by a Phenomenal knee drop for a near fall. 

Jericho rolls to the floor and Jericho punches the ring steps for doing him wrong and then Owens pushes the top step off. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and Styles with a wrist lock and arm drag on Jericho.  Cesaro tags in and he works on the arm with a wrist lock and arm wringer.  Jericho kips up but Cesaro with a clothesline.  Jericho with a chop and he sends Cesaro into the turnbuckles.  Owens is tagged in and he punches Cesaro.  Owens with a European uppercut and he celebrates, but Cesaro shows Owens the proper way to give a European uppercut. 

Owens with a knee and Jericho tags in.  Cesaro kicks Jericho and he gives Owens an elbow.  Cesaro with European uppercuts to Owens and Jericho.  Cesaro with the running European uppercuts between the corners to Owens and Jericho three times.  Cesaro signals for the Giant Swing and he gets Jericho down but then Owens goes after Cesaro and Cesaro takes him down.  Owens gets to the ropes and Cesaro is clotheslined over the top rope to the floor by Jericho.

Owens sends Cesaro into the announce table.  Jericho with an elbow to the back of the neck from the apron.  Jericho with a slingshot splash onto Cesaro for a near fall.  Jericho chops Cesaro and punches him.  Owens tags back in and Owens and Jericho kick Cesaro.  Owens with knees and then he mocks Styles while Jericho chokes Cesaro.  Owens with a short arm clothesline.

Owens gets a near fall and then he applies a front face lock.  Owens with a knee to the back and a chin lock.  Owens sends Cesaro into the turnbuckles and tags Jericho back in.  Jericho with a suplex and a Jericho cover for a near fall.  Jericho with a double over hook on Cesaro.  Cesaro with punches followed by a pop up European uppercut.  Jericho misses a bulldog and Cesaro sends him to the floor.  Jericho pulls Styles off the apron and Owens is tagged in.

Owens misses a cannonball when Cesaro moves.  Styles is tagged in and he connects with punches and kicks followed by a clothesline and a sliding forearm.  Styles with a clothesline into the corner.  Styles hits the ushigoroshi on Jericho and then Styles hits the sit out gourdbuster for a near fall on Owens.  Owens counters a Styles Clash set up with a back body drop.  Owens with a waist lock and Styles with elbows.

Owens moves when Styles goes for the springboard moonsault into the reverse DDT and Styles hits the mat face first.  Owens with a super kick and he gets a near fall.  Owens gets Styles on his shoulders but Styles gets to his feet and he hits a Pele kick.  Styles goes to the apron for the Phenomenal forearm but Jericho pushes Styles off the ropes and Owens gets a near fall.  Owens with a package side slam for a near fall that is broken up by Cesaro.

Cesaro clotheslines Jericho over the top rope and both men go to the floor.  Cesaro with a running European uppercut that sends Jericho into Yeatonvlle.  Owens sets for the pop up power bomb but Sami Zayn comes out and that distracts Owens long enough to allow Styles to get the three count with a rollup.

Winners:  Cesaro and AJ Styles

After the match, Owens goes after Zayn and they exchange punches.  Owens is held by officials and agents and Zayn punches Owens.  Owens sends Zayn shoulder first into the ring steps as we go to credits.
