Do you think Madison Square Garden will honor Vince McMahon once he is no longer owner of WWE coming 9/12?
I don't know what you mean by honor but given he's already in their Wall of Fame, having been inducted there in 2003, I don't believe that would change.
If you were WWE, would you hire CM Punk? Even with Endeavor taking over and a different CEO in Nick Khan being in place since he was last there, as far as I know, the rift between Punk and HHH is still there as well. Conversely, if you were CM Punk, would you go back knowing the above?
I would certainly explore it if he was on the open market, as long as he went through whatever obstacles and testing they felt was necessary. I think Endeavor being the new owners, and having a previous relationship with CM Punk could make the difference. Time will tell, but if I was WWE, I certainly would want to test the waters.
Now, If I am Punk, I am probably thinking that the clock is running out and if I want to make one last major run, it's now or never, since AEW isn't going to be a possibility anytime soon, if ever. Unless he gets a big acting role (and with the SAG-AFTRA Strike, likely not happening anytime soon), he's got to smart enough to see the lay of the land.
I'm not sure if I'm reading much into it, but do you think the Endeavor deal being done on a Tuesday means Vince McMahon and or/the rest of the family wants to close out their chapter of WWE on Monday with Raw? Have you heard of anything planned, whether it is on-air or not? Surely, there has to be at least a crew filming content for a future documentary.
I have heard nothing about the McMahons being at Raw. Vince McMahon is still recovering from his back surgery. Stephanie and Linda have distanced themselves for obvious reasons. Shane was hurt but could obviously appear but I don't believe that's happening. If it was, WWE would certainly hype the hell out of a McMahon family appearance and they would have done it by now. I haven't heard of any documentary being filmed, but hey, it's possible.
In reading that Newsday Zelina Vega interview, it struck me how bad WWE has dropped the ball with Zelina Vega coming out of the Puerto Rico PPV. She was a STAR on that night and has had a lot of strong performances but yet she's forgotten about and is never in the mix for the title. Is it me? It feels like in a world of Rhea, Charlotte, Becky, IYO, etc. that she stands out and could have good matches with all of these people, but is never really used. Is she hurt?
You bring up a good point. Zelina isn't hurt as she worked the Smackdown taping last night. They absolutely dropped the ball with her post-Rhea Ripley and hell, they even had the perfect merchandise idea with her mother's chancla from that PPV but never went with it. It's a weird deal. They use her to promote stuff and do appearances and then, like that one Smackdown on 9/11, they didn't even use her when they had the obvious story laid out for them. The idea of her as the scrappy underdog challenger to Rhea, to me, sells itself and I don't know why they haven't followed up on. There's a real story there with her chasing the title after losing in Puerto Rico or even trying to honor her family by avenging the loss, but WWE hasn't pulled that trigger. For whatever reasons, there seem to be women who everyone knows are great - Beth Phoenix and Natalya are good examples of this - who in the moment, sometimes don't get the push or attention they likely deserve but get the credit later. That's nice to get the credit but there's oftentimes missed opportunities and I think you can argue WWE has certainly done that with Vega and they could get a LOT more out of her. The Backlash PPV showed that and that she's a very unique talent for the company. I do think it's a shame they've let her just cool off and be part of the landscape instead of a stronger, standout performer. Why they squandered that moment, I can't tell you.
