AIW LOSES CLEVELAND VENUE, FULL DETAILS

By Mike Johnson on 2022-12-21 17:24:00

Cleveland's Absolute Intense Wrestling issued the following:

As some of you may have heard earlier this month The Odeon and the entire building that houses the venue sold and will be included in the next phase of redeveloping and revitalizing The Flats district in downtown Cleveland, we have been in contact with reps from The Odeon who said our 2023 dates will not be honored as the space will be remodeled throughout most of 2023 but assured us they want to work with us after that is completed and our December 30th event would still be able to move forward. As things were transitioning to the new ownership group we did everything that was asked of us on our end to meet the terms of the new owners including purchasing additional insurance policies, unfortunately that was not enough and we were informed earlier this afternoon we need to relocate the December 30th event. As things are transitioning from the old ownership to the new ownership group the liquor license and permits still need to be processed and they were informed this would probably not be ready in time for December 30th so with the loss of that revenue stream The Odeon decided it was in their best interest to cancel the event.

With only 9 days until the event and not a lot of options in the Cleveland area we have unfortunately made the difficult decision to relocate the event to Akron as our other full time venue the Tadmor Shrine has said they can accommodate the move for us. We realize this is inconvenient for many of you in the Cleveland area so if you would like a refund we will process it immediately upon request. All existing tickets will be honored and stage seating will be upgraded to front row ringside and second row ringside and will also receive limited edition autographed items to offset the price difference.

We tried everything we could to keep the event in the Cleveland area but it is hard to find an available venue with the capacity we need on a Friday night with 9 days’ notice so Akron became the only option other than canceling the event all together. We sincerely apologize for anyone who can no longer attend because of the venue change but we were up against the clock especially with the holiday season happening so we needed to go with a venue that was a sure thing. We realize this may be a very frustrating message for many of you and we treuly wish we did not have to send this bad news but it is what is neccesary at this point for the event to happen.
