4/10/21 Results for Road to Wrestling Dontaku 2021 From Yokohama Budokan:
Yota Tsuji vs. Gabriel Kidd
Tsuji wins by submission with a Boston Crab.
Yuya Uemura, SHO and YOH vs. Minoru Suzuki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado
Uemura and Suzuki have a stare down before the match.
Also, SHO and YOH used to have matching wrestling attire. They now dress differently, SHO in yellow and black short tights and YOH in black baggy tights. It could be due to YOH’s ACL injury.
Suzuki-Gun attacked immediately and targeted YOH’s left leg, which was the injured leg. At one point, Suzuki and Uemura paired off and they traded wicked shots. Uemura hit Suzuki with a double underhook suplex. Uemura almost pinned Suzuki until Desperado made the save.
Suzuki got angry and took down Uemura with an ankle lock submission. Uemura screamed but made the ropes. Suzuki and Uemura traded blows. Suzuki trapped Uemura in an ankle lock submission again, but then transitioned into a single leg Boston Crab. Suzuki twisted Uemura body into a weird position.
Uemura taps out.
After the match, Kanemaru and Desperado attack the leg of YOH, while Suzuki makes SHO watch. SHO fights him off and saves his partner.
DOUKI, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. Jado, Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga
G.O.D. focused their attack on DOUKI and kept him in their corner. Wild match. The end of the match came when Suzuki-Gun trapped all Bullet Club members in submission holds. The legal men were Taichi and Jado.
Jado taps out to Taichi’s Stretch Muffler.
Tama Tonga tells Taichi that he will take the Iron Finger.
At Wrestling Dontaku 2021, Tama Tonga will face Taichi in a ladder match for the Iron Finger, which in possession of New Japan Officials.
Elimination Match: YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, Yujiro Takahashi, KENTA and EVIL, with Dick Togo
Tanahashi eliminates Gedo by submission.
EVIL eliminates Tanahashi over the top.
EVIL and Yano eliminate each other over the top.
Takahashi eliminates Ishii over the top.
Goto eliminates Takahashi over the top.
Ishimori eliminates Goto with a roll up pin (and feet on the ropes).
YOSHI-HASHI eliminates Ishimori over the top.
YOSHI-HASHI kicks KENTA over the top. KENTA lands on the floor. YOSHI-HASHI is celebrating that he won. Ishimori is telling the referee that KENTA did not touch the floor. KENTA was standing on the Bo Staff. The referee checks it out and he allows KENTA to continue.
KENTA eliminates YOSHI-HASHI over the top.
KENTA gets the win for his team.
YOSHI-HASHI and KENTA will be facing each other in a single match as we get closer to Wrestling Dontaku.
The silliness with the Bo Staff is fine as long as it does not happen in an important match and if it is kept to a minimum.
Elimination Match: BUSHI, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi vs. Jeff Cobb, Aaron Henare, Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay
O-Khan eliminates Naito over the top.
SANADA eliminates O-Khan over the top.
SANADA and Henare eliminate each other over the top.
Cobb eliminates BUSHI after a Tour of the Islands.
Takagi eliminates Cobb over the top.
Takagi eliminates Ospreay over the top.
Shingo Takagi gets the win for Los Ingobernales de Japon.
Takagi takes the mic and tells Ospreay that he will beat him for the IWGP World Title and go on to face Kazuchika Okada.
