THE UNDERTAKER DISCUSSES NOT COMPETING AT WRESTLEMANIA THIS YEAR, HIS PROUDEST BODY OF WORK AND MORE: UNDERTAKER ON ESPN+'S SPORTSNATION RECAP

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-10 12:33:00

The Undertaker appeared on ESPN+s's SportsNation yesterday with Arda Ocal to discuss Wrestlemania memories.

He was asked what Wrestlemania match he gets asked about the most by fans.  Undertaker said it was probably the Shawn Michaels match at Wrestlemania 25, which had the right mix of quality of the match and characters.  It was everything good about what wrestling is.

Ocal said it was interesting Vince McMahon didn't like the idea he was carted out of the ring after his match with Triple H.  Vince said his Undertaker, win or lose, walks out.  But, Taker said, he knew they wanted to come back the next year (the Hell In A Cell match) so they did that finish.  He said the matches with HHH and Shawn at Wrestlemanias are probably his proudest body of work.

Ocal joked that his match against Giant Gonzales was up there too.  Undertaker stared at him and they both cracked up.  Undertaker said it was bad on so many levels.  He said he tried so very hard.  It's right under the HHH matches he joked.

Ocal asked him how often before Brock Lesnar ending it whether there was discussion about ending the streak.  He said there were a few instances of Vince McMahon discussing it and there was a "total mutiny where everyone else said, no no no."

Undertaker said watching this year will be surreal because he's going to feel like he needs to be there.  Around October, when he usually starts training to get his body together.  He said it was time for him to step aside but it's going to feel weird and there will be a passing moment where he's going to wish he was out there, but it's time to let the next generation take things to the next level
