"The Life Of.....A Very Good Professional Wrestler"

4/8/21 - 7pm

Streaming on IWTV.live

Known as Dasher Hatfield in another life, A Very Good Professional Wrestler took off the mask and donned this new moniker over a year ago. This is a week in his life.

He starts his day at 4:30am to get to the gym.  It’s a sort of vlog as he drives and talks about how he had to get into shape as a kid to be a professional wrestler. He’s all natural, gym-bound as many days a week as he can and super appreciative of his wife for the trust she gives to being constantly on the road.

We get a montage of a Very Good Professional Wrestling workout.

We meet the AVGPW family: Rue, AVGPW’s dog. Sawyer, his son who wants to be Dasher Hatfield Jr when he grows up....but also a dentist. Riley, his daughter who is a gymnast. Megan, his wife who definitely hates being on camera and may not love AVGPW incoming mustache. ;)

AVGPW has to go to work now, he’s a substitute teacher, which fits into his wrestling life schedule. We see a little snippet of him teaching a class over Zoom.

AVGPW has a big back yard with a trampoline and a ninja course. Sawyer steals the camera to show off the trampoline fun times. AVGPW interviews his kids, who think it’s cool their dad is a wrestler.

We drive to Riley’s gymnastics practice, singing on the way in the car and it’s clear AVGPW is super proud of his daughter. Sawyer wants to wrestle his dad but first, they gotta play some “Among Us” and table hockey. All of this is interact with shots of Sawyer beating up his dad.

It’s Thanksgiving. AVGPW talks again how thankful he is for his wife, who has put up with his journey through wrestling over the last 20 years. He really wants to get an on-camera kiss....but as previously mentioned, she’s not loving the camera and repeatedly runs away from that. Sawyer, though? Little dude’s doing pushups.

AVGPW talks about work ethic and how he makes wrestling his 3rd priority (behind family and teaching) but still find the time to be a VERY GOOD Professional Wrestler. He sews a toy back together while talking about how he got his sewing skills through wrestler (can’t wrestle with a hole in your gear....well, I suppose you can...but it wouldn’t be PROFESSIONAL).Riley interviews her dad. He wants teleportation powers but barring that, he’d like to wrestle in Mexico, if possible.

AVGPW is prepping for a trip out to Camp Leapfrog for their Christmas Trios show. He misses the camaraderie of the locker room, which he hasn’t established at Camp Leapfrog yet since most of his friends retired or have moved to other companies. We’re at the show, AVGPW is in a suit. PRO.

In Camp Leapfrog, AVGPW is the champion. We cut to post-match where he talks about taking a back bump, that hurt his lower abdomen. We cut again to the next morning after he’s had a visit to the ER. Thankfully, they gave him a little pain relief for the strain he took.

It’s the end of November and AVGPW shaves off his mustache, hoping his wife will finally give him the kiss. She still hates the camera but she’s happy the face rat is gone and AVGPW finally gets the kiss. A peck....but it counts.

It’s the morning of Riley’s gymnastics meet. AVGPW is excited that he gets to go see this in person, especially in the Covid times. He’s nervous for his daughter to win. She’s scored well in the first 3 events. We get to see her 4th event, the floor routine. She’s had her highest scoring day ever and takes the 1st place overall! Riley has all the medals! AVGPW is a proud poppa!

AVGPW does a final interview with Megan. They discuss the days that AVGPW said he was going to be a wrestler. She’s glad that wrestling forced him to set goals in life. She does miss him when he’s not home. AVGPW calls himself the luckiest guy in the world. There’s no way he could be all these things without her. AVGPW knows the time he needs to put it down is coming. He wants to stop missing family things. Maybe a few years. Maybe next year.

Our final shot is AVGPW watching sports with an unconscious Sawyer on the couch next to him. He loves being a wrestler but he loves being a DAD more.

My Review: This was adorable. Watch it if you want to smile. Wholesome family stuff with a taste of that real cost of trying to balance family and wrestling lives. AVGPW  loves the hell out of his family. It’s gonna be a lot harder to boo him in the future (if you even were before). THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST.
