ABSOLUTE INTENSE WRESTLING 'GO FOR BROKE' ON IWTV DEBUT REPORT

By Joshua Higham on 2021-04-08 19:10:00

AIW GO FOR BROKE ON INDEPENDENTWRESTLING.TV DEBUT REPORT

We are welcomed to AIW Go For Broke by Steve Guy, explaining that wrestlers were invited to this undisclosed location (that looks strangely like the Odeon in Cleveland) to participate in the Biggins Cup. Steve Guy tells us winners of singles matches receive 1000 Biggins Bucks, and winners of any tag match receive 500 Biggins Bucks each. The top earners advance to the Biggins Cup tournament to earn a championship shot of their choice.

We start with a video look at Dom Garrini, explaining his Brazilian jujitsu background, becoming a top ten competitor in no gi BJJ. After seven years on the BJJ circuit, he stepped away from tournament action and focused on professional wrestling after seeing Kevin Owens powerbomb Machine Gun Kelly off the stage at a Raw in Cleveland.

We head into the arena, and our commentary team is AIW President Matt Wadsworth and AIW Owner John Thorne.

Our first match is Mikey Montgomery of the Bitcoin Boyz with The Duke taking on Tre Lamar of 40 Acres. Mikey Montgomery is smoking something and blows smoke into Lamar’s face. High flying action until Tre Lamar attempts a springboard, getting caught up by the Duke. Moments later, Montgomery attempts his own top rope attack that Lamar counters. Lamar hits a frog splash elbow, which only got a 2 count, so he locks in a Lion Tamer and Montgomery has no choice but to tap.

We’re back with a look at Marino Tenaglia of PME who will face Garrini in the main event. Marino talks about the inspiration of his late mother and how he wants to show he isn’t just a tag team wrestler.

Backstage with a post-match promo with Tre Lamar, and Wes Barkley bumps into him. 40 Acres teammate PB Smooth calms Lamar down as Barkley hits to the ring. We follow Lamar into the locker room to see Philly Collins hyping up Marino Tenaglia for his match later tonight.

The Masked Marauder vs Wes Barkley is up. Apparently, the Masked Marauder answered the call for talent, and John Thorne said why not. It’s all Barkley as a Michinoku Driver gives him the quick win. Barkley then hits the Maruader with the Stroke just for fun.

Backstage, PB Smooth bumps into Wes Barkley before his match. Barkley calls for Josh Bishop, and Joseline calms Smooth down before anything can escalate.

A video looks at Absolute and Intense Champion, Joshua Bishop, and the destruction he’s caused over the past few years. We are told he wrestles on Go for Broke next week.

Riley Rose vs PB Smooth is up next. This might be Riley Rose’s official AIW debut as he’s a recent transfer to the AIW Academy, according to John Thorne. Former Absolute Champion PB Smooth gets the quick win over the newcomer.

We find out The Duke is wrestling next week. Video interview with him, telling us that he’s got a good job that pays well, and what better way to spend his days off than beating people up. He claims this isn’t a tournament, but a game show. He’s gonna outsmart everyone, bet on himself, and win it all.

It’s time for our main event as Dom Garrini takes on Marino Tenaglia. Clean, smooth mat wrestling from both, countering maneuver for maneuver. Tenaglia presses the energy level and uses his speed to his advantage. But Garrini is about to slow things down, using more power and striking to get some near falls. Garrini hits a Muscle Buster, but Tenaglia is aware enough to roll out of the ring. Tenaglia connects with the single person version of Sunset Dreams, tries for another, but gets caught. Garrini drops him into a rear naked choke, and Tenaglia has to tap.

Behind the scenes, Philly Collins is consoling his partner, walking into the lounge area where Joshua Bishop and Wes Barkley are talking smack about PME. Bishop and Barkley walk out and bump into Big Twan Tucker, who has not been seen in AIW in a very long time.

Quick results:

Tre Lamar (+1000) defeated Mikey Montgomery

Wes Barkley (+1000) defeated Masked Marauder

PB Smooth (+1000) defeated Riley Rose

Dom Garrini (+1000) defeated Marino Tenaglia

All wrestlers volunteered to take part in the tournament with the idea that fans could tip the wrestlers for good performance. Paypals and Venmos were flashed on the screen. The next episode is Tuesday, April 13 on IWTV.
