CENA MAY BE OUT OF ROYAL RUMBLE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-01-21 18:51:00

WWE began teasing this evening that John Cena may be out of the 2019 Royal Rumble match due to an ankle injury.

WWE posted a story today on their website noting that Cena suffered an injury last week to his left ankle during the Fatal Four Way to determine the new challenger to Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, which was won by Finn Balor and was favoring the ankle after the match.  WWE is claiming Drew McIntyre caused the injury when locking Cena in an ankle lock during the bout.  Cena did favor the ankle after that spot.

WWE's story on their website also states that Cena exacerbated the injury working out in the gym earlier today and is now "questionable" for the Rumble match.

We are told that Cena is not at tonight's Raw taping in Oklahoma.  Cena's next film Playing With Fire is slated to begin production on 2/4 through 4/1 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
