â–º Big Bossman defeated Nailz in a "Nightstick Match." Big Bossman retrieved the nightstick from the pole, but Nailz ended up using it on the Bossman anyway. Bossman finished the match with a Bossman Slam and the pin.

â–º Tatanka pinned Rick "The Model" Martel following a Samoan drop, regaining the sacred feathers that Martel had stolen. The yet-unnamed Doink the Clown was at ringside entertaining the audience during the match.

â–º "Macho Man" Randy Savage & Mr. Perfect defeated "Nature Boy" Ric Flair & Razor Ramon when the referee disqualified Flair and Ramon for double-teaming Mr. Perfect. This was Razor Ramon’s pay-per-view debut.

â–º The Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon) & The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs) defeated Money, Inc. (Ted DiBiase & Irwin R. Schyster) & The Beverly Brothers (Beau & Blake Beverly) in the only team elimination match of the evening. Jimmy Hart accompanied Money Inc. to ringside. The Genius accompanied The Beverly Brothers. In this match, if one member of a tag team was eliminated, his partner was eliminated as well.

Eliminations: Earthquake pinned Beau Beverly following an earthquake splash (The Beverly Brothers are eliminated). Ted DiBiase tripped Typhoon, and IRS made the pin (The Natural Disasters are eliminated). Jerry Saggs pinned IRS with a roll up (Money Inc. are eliminated) to win the match for his team.

Survivors: The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs)

â–º The Undertaker defeated Kamala in the first-ever "Coffin Match" when he forced Kamala into the coffin and closed the lid. The gimmick match would later be renamed the "Casket Match." Harvey Whippleman & Kim Chee accompanied Kamala to ringside Paul Bearer accompanied The Undertaker.

â–º WWF Champion Bret "Hitman" Hart defeated WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels via submission when he forced Michaels to submit to the Sharpshooter. The Intercontinental Championship was not on the line.

CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE: Ric Flair & Razor Ramon were originally scheduled to face the Ultimate Maniacs (Ultimate Warrior & "Macho Man" Randy Savage) in a tag team match. The Ultimate Warrior, however, walked out on the company the week before the pay-per-view and the WWF needed to scramble and rebook the match. On the last episode of Prime Time Wrestling before the pay-per-view, Randy Savage asked Ric Flair’s "Executive Consultant" Mr. Perfect to team with him in the match. Though Mr. Perfect hadn't competed since Summerslam 1991 due to injury, he still accepted the match, over the objections of Ric Flair, Razor Ramon, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.....The British Bulldog was originally scheduled to defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Mountie at the pay-per-view. The Bulldog, however, had already given his notice to the WWF (and would soon be working for WCW), so the company decided to take the championship from him before the pay-per-view. Shawn Michaels won the Intercontinental Championship from the Bulldog on the episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event that aired before Survivor Series, and the British Bulldog vs. The Mountie match was dropped from the show entirely....The Bushwhackers (Luke & Butch) were originally scheduled to compete in the team elimination match, but were replaced in the match by the Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs). Though Bret Hart was always scheduled to wrestle Shawn Michaels at the pay-per-view, the match was not originally for the WWF Championship. Bret Hart won the belt from Ric Flair at a live event a month prior to Survivor Series, and the Survivor Series match became a WWF Championship bout.

NOTES: Vince McMahon & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan did commentary for the event. "Mean" Gene Okerlund, Sean Mooney, & Lord Alfred Hayes handled interviews. Howard Finkel was the ring announcer. Crush defeated The Brooklyn Brawler via submission in a non-televised match prior to the pay-per-view. Promotional materials for the event featured two match advertisements, one for the original tag team main event, and one for the "Nightstick Match" between Big Bossman and Nailz. This was the first Survivor Series that almost entirely deviated from the team elimination format, featuring only one team elimination match....The PPV broadcast opened with a "sermon" from Rev. Slick.

Buck Woodward: This is when the Survivor Series just became a Fall version of Summerslam, save for the one (weak) Survivor style match. ... Being a Bret Hart mark, I was thrilled to see him in the main event slot, and I also liked the idea of the Intercontinental Champion getting a World Title shot, since the I-C belt was always supposed to be the springboard to the big gold. ... I remember being amazed at how the Ultimate Warrior-Mr. Perfect switch went down. It was totally out of left field.

Mike Johnson: Oh, elimination matches, I remember thee well. I always felt it was a mistake not to keep the concept, and still do....The return of Mr. Perfect was a huge deal at the time and the story of whether he was loyal to Randy Savage or not was a good one....The Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels main event was great and would end up being the first of many PPV and TV matches between the two. Who would have known where the next five years would lead them?....The Yokozuna vs. Virgil match sure got my order. Heh.
