BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE AND TNA; PLUS A LOOK BACK AT THE TOTALS ON TELEVISION AND PAY PER VIEW IN JUNE

By Richard Trionfo on 2014-07-06 16:00:00
For the first time in the history of this column, we have four pay per views to discuss in a month because of the addition of Ring of Honor to the ‘traditional’ pay per view. This means that we will have the most wrestling in a single month on pay per view.

With 380 minutes of wrestling this month on the 4 pay per views, we had an average of 95 minutes per pay per view. However, if you took away the total for Ring of Honor, we would be looking at an average of 91 minutes. TNA had their lowest total of their three pay per views and the only pay per view this year to fall under 90 minutes of wrestling. Money in the Bank had the lowest total for a WWE pay per view this year, one minute less than Extreme Rules. Payback had 96 minutes to fall into fourth place of the six WWE pay per views this year.

Ring of Honor had the best per hour average for a pay per view with more than 35 minutes per hour of wrestling. The 107 minutes of wrestling was only 12 minutes less than Wrestlemania, which had an extra hour of time.

Best in the World is the only pay per view this year to have every match go more than ten minutes.

With 32 matches on pay per view this month, it would make sense that we had our highs for the year for five and twenty minute matches. The six five minute matches were two more than we saw in the first five months. We also saw the first one minute match on a pay per view since Randy Orton cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase against Daniel Bryan at last year’s SummerSlam.

The times for the participants in the Elimination Six Man Tag Match at Payback were:
Batista: 28 Minutes
Randy Orton: 29 Minutes
Triple H: 31 Minutes
Dean Ambrose: 31 Minutes
Roman Reigns: 31 Minutes
Seth Rollins: 31 Minutes

The time for the Briscoes versus Matt Hardy and Michael Bennett match is the combined time of the match prior to the disqualification and the restarted match and will be treated as a single match for this column.

The Kickoff Show Match at Payback was Hornswoggle versus El Torito in a Hair versus Mask match that went 7 Minutes. There was no Kickoff Show Match at Money in the Bank.
