REPOST: FULL WRESTLEMANIA 30 BLOG - WHAT A SHOW, WHAT A NIGHT!

By Dave Scherer on 2020-03-22 19:59:00

Next up was the Hall of Fame segment. It was a great night last evening, as you probably know if you read my report. They introduce the class, who were all on the stage, except for Warrior. He got his music and came out last. He grabbed his heart and pointed to the crowd. He looked to really appreciate it, as did all of them to be honest.

They started selling Bryan's injury, but showing him in the back with the trainer. He can hardly lift his arm.

They did a segment putting over the great food of New Orleans. Then they showed us the Spanish announcers (they showed the French team earlier).

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar is next. Brock came out first, looking massive and bad ass. Taker did the usual cool entrance. I miss seeing that. The bell rings and they start hot, with Undertaker going after him. Lesnar then hit a suplex out of nowhere and clotheslines Taker to the flor. Take gave a mean look. Lesnar wouldn't let Taker in, throwing knees and forearms. Taker then used the top rope on BNrock throat and came back in. He went to work on Brock. The crowd is very quiet early. ... Taker went to the top to do Old School but Brock stopped him. The crowd booed. But then for the second time, Brock went to ram Taker and got the ring post with his shoulder instead. ... Taker then went to work on the shoulder and the rest of Brock. ... We got our first "Vintage Undertaker" when he did a jumping legdrop on Brock's throat. Taker his Snake Eyes and went for a chokeslam but Lesnar powered out and went for the F5. Taker powered out. Brock caught Taker on the top rope and went to work on his leg. Lesnar dumped Taker on his back on the floor, and then took control. ... He stayed in control for a while, throwing Taker all around the ring and on the floor. ... After a while, Taker started fighting back and had a flurry. He hit Snake Eyes and the Big Boot. He did the leg drop and got a two. Taker hit a chokeslam and got a two. Lesnar came back with the F5 but only got a two. Paul Heyman started yelling at Brock to finish him, finish him. He went in to do it but Taker grabbed Hells Gate. Lesnar powered up and dumped Taker, breaking Hells Gate. The announcers are selling that could be all Taker has left. ... He has more as Brock went into Hells Gate again. Will he tap? No, he broke out again. Damn, he is a strong dude, like stupid strong. Taker didn't help at all on either, they are worse than dead lifts. Brock is a freakin' beast. Brock then jumped into the Kimura Lock. Taker screamed in pain. Can he get out? Yes, and he reversed it. It's very MMA style at this point. Heyman yelled at Brock to get to the ropes, and he does. They are both selling now. Brock charged in and met a Taker boot. Taker goes up for Old School. Brock says no and pulls him into an F5! One, two kickout! ... They were both selling their fatigue when Heyman yelled at Brock that he is taking this away from you. You are Brock Lesnar. So Lesnar got up and started attacked Taker again. Taker has been down a lot, to sell the streak is in jeopardy. Just then, Taker gets up and does a moving powerbomb, with a moon over New Orleans. He waits for LEsnar to get up and scoops him up and hits the tombstone (and Lesnar's head was well clear). He gets a two count only. They were both laying down when Undertaker did the pop up. He did the throat slash and went for the tombstone. Brock powered out and hit the F5. One, two, three. The streak is over. Heyman was stunned. He ran into the ring and said you did it. People are stunned. I am stunned. Holy crap. Brock smiled. They showed a graphic that says 21-1. Holy crap. Everyone is speechless. My first thought was what the hell? My second thought was what's next. I have to think for them to do this, Brock will be a focal point going forward.

Brock went on the rampway and lifted his arms. The fans booed. As long as he is around for more than his limited schedule, I am OK with it. If Brock is going to work a bigger schedule, Taker actually just did a big solid for the business. Even if not, he can put his career on the line next year. Win, avenge the loss and retire anyway.

After Brock left, Taker got up in the ring. He got a lot of cheers except for a toolbox that yelled you suck. JBL said he went out like a warrior, like it was over. I don't think that's it for him. I hope it's not. Give me one more. In the interim, have Bryan win tonight and Brock is waiting for him.

I really enjoyed the match. It was more of an MMA kind of bout and not everyone's cup of tea but the work was great. I never wanted to see the Streak end, so I hope now that it did, it is for a good reason.
