PWINSIDER Q&A: MAKING A DREAM COME TRUE, HEROES OF WRESTLING AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2009-05-16 10:00:00

In I think 1999, there was the now famously bad "Heroes Of Wrestling" PPV. I re-watched it the other day and was again amazed at how awful it was. My question is, who was responsible for the show happening?

Bill Stone, who was president of a group called Fosstone Productions, set up the event, with the idea that it would be the first of a series of PPV events using wrestling legends.  However, the buyrate was way below expectations, so all future events were cancelled.  On top of that, the antics of Jake Roberts during the show, where he was apparently inebriated, angered Stone and made him think twice about his involvement with wrestling.

How different do you think the wrestling landscape could have been if TNA had have been able to hold onto and properly utilize several guys who are now with WWE? Imagine the likes of Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, CM Punk, MVP and Brian Kendrick as they are now, performing for TNA.

It's hard to answer a hypothetical question like that, especially when, with the exception of Hardy and Punk, none of the others worked for TNA.  Could TNA have made Punk into a headliner?  Could Hardy have meant more if he stayed with the company?  It is impossible to know.  I will say that Kendrick might have a better spot in TNA than WWE in terms of being near the main event picture, but at the same time, he might have ended up lost in the X-Division shuffle.

What dream matches, that could actually happen, would you most like to see?  I personally salivate at the thought of Kurt Angle vs. Bryan Danielson.  And I've always wanted to see Low Ki vs. Tajiri.

Danielson vs. Angle sounds like a lot of fun to me!  Oh, and just because I believe dreams do come true, here's your other dream match!

I was wondering why Chris Jericho now wears undies as his ring attire instead of his classic attire (i.e. the long wrestling tights)? An answer would be greatly appreciated.

From what I understand, Jericho feels the short tights gives him a better, more mature look that goes with his new heel persona.

Is it just me or is Vince having his announcers Cole, Ross, etc. use the word impact a lot more now that TNA has a wrestling program with that name. I find it especially funny when former TNA wrestlers such as Gail Kim, Christian, and R Truth are referred to as making an impact in the WWE.

I wouldn't put it past Vince!  I'd like to think he has more important things to do though.
