Ring of Honor announced this morning that ROH champion Nigel McGuinness will defend against Naomichi Marufuji at the 12/27 Final Battle 2008 event in New York City. Between that and Takeshi Morishima vs. Bryan Danielson in a Fight Without Honor on top, ROH has one hell of a double main event for that show. Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky filmed a shoot interview with Kayfabe Commentaries yesterday. The DVD, titled "Gabe's Book of ROH Secrets." will cover his release from the company, but will be mostly focused on Sapolsky literally opening his "booking binder for a week by week reading of his plans that never came to be", according to Sean Oliver, who conducted the shoot. Oliver noted, "Gabe is humble, smart, and aware of his mistakes. It will be a fascinating watch for both his fans and detractors." For more information, visit www.kayfabecommentaries.com.
Since I've gotten a lot of questions about these two topics - there were no plans for Bryan Danielson to win the ROH title before the booking regime change and I don't believe the Prince Nana storyline that began at the last set of Northeastern events has been dropped.
One match being teased for the 12/26 Philadelphia return is Kevin Steen & El Generico & Necro Butcher vs. The Briscoe Brothers & a member of the Age of the Fall. I am very curious to see how that one will be explained away in storyline considering the AOTF put Mark Briscoe out with a wrist injury, bloodied and hung Jay Briscoe above the ring in Chicago, etc.
ROH will debut in the St. Louis area tomorrow, running Colinsville, IL with ROH champion Nigel McGuinness & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Bryan Danielson & Jerry Lynn, Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black. a Tag Team Gauntlet with Brent Albright & Erick Stevens vs. The Briscoes vs. Irish Airborne vs. TBA with the winners taking on Kensuke Sasaki & Nakajima at Final Battle 2008, Necro Butcher & Ace Steel vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Delirious, Kenny Omega vs. Kenny King and SHIMMER champ MsChif vs. Daizee Haze, plus WLW's Steve Anthony and Boa Nguyen.
This Saturday will see their debut in Nashville, TN will feature Nigel McGuinness vs. Jerry Lynn, a No DQ Match featuring Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli, The Briscoes & Kenny Omega vs. Kenny King & Sal Rinuaro & Rhett Titus, Brent Albright & Erick Stevens vs. A Team Representing Sweet N Sour Inc., a SHIMMER Four Corner Survival with Sara Del Rey vs. MsChif vs. Daizee Haze vs. Serena Deeb, and (I kid you not) Irish Airborne vs. Grizzley Redwood & Bushwhacker Luke Williams.
