As I broke this morning on my PWInsider.com Elite Hotline, WWE's John Cena has been dealing with a neck issue for several weeks and was sent by the company for tests prior to the NYC house show this weekend to determine the severity of the injury. Cena underwent an MRI and a CT scan as he's been having some issues with numbness.
At the house shows over the weekend, Cena's scheduled singles bouts with Chris Jericho were turned into tag bouts featuring Cena & Batista vs. Jericho & Kane. In the bouts, Batista carried most of the work for the babyface team, with Cena taking no bumps. Cena did execute a bulldog on Jericho and an FU on Kane, but nothing beyond that physically.
The early word is that Cena will be booked into situations similar to the tag bouts over the weekend to protect himself from physically exerting himself and causing further issues.
Cena missed several months last year due to a pectoral tear, returning months ahead of the initial diagnosis at the 2008 Royal Rumble PPV.
