FORMER NWA, WWF STAR DICK SLATER BACK IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW AGAIN

By Mike Johnson on 2007-01-18 10:23:00

Former WWF and NWA star Dick Slater was accused of violating a domestic violence injunction taken out by an ex-girlfriend, the same woman he was charged with stabbing in 2003, according to today's edition of The St. Petersburg Times in Florida. Slater allegedly called the woman in question three times and then left an envelope containing old bank statements at her home.

When questioned by police, Slater claimed he didn't remember whether he made the calls, but "said he might have done so while under the influence of drugs" according to the newspaper report. He is currently being held at Piniellas County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

In 2003, Slater went to his ex-girlfriend's home to retrieve belongings after they had split up, but attacked her. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but later pleaded no contest to an lesser charge of aggravated battery charge. Slater received one year of community control, two years probation and 165 days time served in that case and later blamed the incident on prescription medication he was given after a back surgery.
