AAW Independents Day 2022

- Russ Jones is being interviewed backstage, Jones is informed that his old manager in Chuck Smooth isn’t here tonight. Jones calls Smooth a bitch and then says he has some unfinished business with Schaff, Jones says he is free range for tonight’s AAW event.

Davey Vega w/ Hartenbower & Shaun Logan vs. Shane Hollister

The match begins with Hollister doing some work on the arm of Vega, Vega gets free and he gets Hollister in a headlock. Hollister gets free and he goes back to work on the arm of Vega before eating a strike, Hollister trips up Vega before dragging him out of the ring. Hollister cracks Vega with a plethora of strikes, Vega gets back in the ring and Hollister follows him back in there before getting him in a modified octopus stretch. Hollister goes for a roll up and Vega kicks out before eventually eating a spin kick to the head, Vega falls out of the ring and Hollister sets up for a dive before Bauer interferes to prevent it. Vega returns to the ring and Hollister nails him with a back breaker for a near fall, Logan interferes and that allows Vega to knock Hollister out of the ring. Hartenbower and Logan work over Hollister while Vega distracts the referee, Vega then hits Hollister with a draping DDT for a near fall. Vega keeps Hollister on his knees while attacking him with a series of kicks, Hollister fights back and he exchanges strikes with Vega. 

Vega ends the exchange by hitting Hollister with a flapjack followed by a head kick for a near fall, Hollister fights back again and Vega nails him with a sit out power bomb for a near fall. Hollister escapes the grasp of Vega before eating a discus forearm strike, Hollister recovers and he nails Vega with a backstabber. Hollister then nails Vega with an enziguri before landing a knee strike, Hollister misses a head kick before landing another knee strike for a near fall. Hollister looks for his finisher and Vega blocks it, Vega corners Hollister while landing a few forearm strikes. Hollister fights back and he nails Vega with a destroyer for a near fall as Vega’s associates pull the ref out of the ring, Hollister tries climbing the ropes and Logan stops him before eating a penalty kick. Bauer interferes and and Hollister knocks him out of the ring, Hollister then hits Logan with a suicide dive. Hollister follows up with a suicide dive on Bauer, Vega then hits Hollister with a death valley driver followed by a brain buster for a three count.

Winner: Davey Vega w/Hart Bauer & Shaun Logan

Winner Receives An AAW Heavyweight Title Shot Later Tonight: Fred Yehi vs. 1 Called Manders

The match begins with Yehi attacking Manders during his entrance and their brawl spills to the ringside area, Manders and Yehi exchange tons of strikes on the arena floor, Manders grabs Yehi and he sends him into the barricade. Yehi gets in the ring and Manders cracks him with a few strikes, Yehi fights back and Manders nails him with a spine buster. Manders follows up by hitting Yehi with an avalanche, Yehi gets free and he briefly gets Manders in a sleeper hold. Yehi gets a sharp object from his pants and he stabs Manders with it a few times, Yehi grabs the ref and he sends him out of the ring. Yehi tries attacking the ref with the fork and the ref calls for the bell.

Match Result: No Contest

After the match, 1 Called Manders and Fred Yehi continue brawling until the locker room breaks it up. Yehi stabs a bunch of people with the fork while getting held back by various people. 

- AAW Heavyweight Champion Mat Fitchett is backstage, Fitchett says he didn’t come to Chicago not to fight. Fitchett says he knows that he won’t be the champion forever, Fitchett says he’ll fight both Fred Yehi and 1 Called Manders tonight for the title.

- Jake Something gets in the ring and he gets the microphone, Something says he is back in AAW to correct a few things. Something says that he can do whatever he wants and this is his show now, Something says he will have a business meeting in the back before having a match tonight. Danny Daniels comes to the ring and Something drops him before saying he can’t wait to win the heavyweight title. 

AJ Alexander w/Vinny Pacifico vs. Russ Jones

The match begins with Alexander immediately leaving the ring to avoid Jones, Jones leaves the ring and he tackles Alexander into the barricade. Jones gets Alexander back in the ring before landing forearm strikes and stomps, Jones follows up by nailing Alexander with an exploder suplex. Alexander tries fighting back and he cracks Jones with a head kick, Alexander goes to the top rope before landing a missile drop kick. Jones gets angry and he slaps Alexander before landing a death valley driver, Jones then hits Alexander with a knee strike to the back of the head for a three count.

Winner: Russ Jones

 

After the match, Vinny Pacifico attacks Russ Jones and Jones quickly levels him with a few spine busters. 

AAW Tag Team Champions Hammerstone & Ace Perry are interviewed backstage, Hammerstone says he and Perry are bad guys and everybody is coming after them for revenge. Hammerstone says ACH and Jah-C are looking to get their revenge tonight, Perry says they have swung back at those who have swung at them first. Hammerstone and Perry argue over who’ll score the pin tonight.

Silas Young & Karam vs. Brayden Lee & Gnarls Garvin

The match begins with Young dropping Lee with an arm drag, Lee gets up and he works over the arm of Young. Young gets free and Lee trips him up before exchanging some pin attempts, Lee then knocks Young out of the ring with a drop kick. Karam tags in and he shoves Lee to the mat below, Lee eventually gets free from Karam to tag Garvin into the match. Karam gets Garvin in a headlock and Garvin gets free to attack him with a shoulder tackle, Karam kicks Garvin in the midsection before landing a few strikes. Garvin fights back and he nails Karam with a cross body block, Garvin then hits Karam with a middle rope cross body block for a near fall. Lee tags in and he works with Garvin to hit Karam with a double suplex, Garvin and Lee hit Karam with splashes for a nera fall. Young interferes and Lee sends him back to the arena floor, Young interferes again and that allows Karam to hit Lee with a clothesline. Karam stands Lee before dropping him with a forearm strike, Young tags in and he works over a cornered Lee.

Young hits Lee with a suplex from out of the corner for a near fall, Young follows up by hitting Lee with a back suplex. Karam tags back in and he nails Lee with a fallaway slam for a near fall, Young tags back in and he gets Lee in a front headlock. Lee finds a way to tag Garvin in and the referee was distracted by Young at that time, Karam tags back in and he nails Lee with a suplex for a near fall. Karam holds Lee down while applying a chin lock to him, Karam releases the hold before shoving Lee to the ground below. Young tags back in and he holds Lee down with a chin lock, Lee fights back and Karam interferes to hit him with a clothesline. Karam tags in and he nails Lee with a back breaker, Lee fights back again and he nails Karam with a missile drop kick. Garvin and Young are tagged in by their respective partners, Garvin quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Garvin hits Young with a butterfly suplex for a near fall, Karam returns and Garvin sends him out of the ring before doing the same to Young. 

Lee then takes everybody out with a moonsault from the top rope, Garvin gets back in the ring to hit Karam with a seated senton for a near fall. Young hits the ring and Lee also returns to hit him with an enziguri, Karam recovers and he double teams Lee with Young for a near fall. Young and Karam place Garvin on the top rope and Young follows him up there, Garvin knocks Young off the ropes before Karam goes up there. Lee then sends a charging Young out of the ring, Lee then hits Karam with a power bomb before Garvin lands a top rope splash for a three count.

Winners: Brayden Lee & Gnarls Garvin

After the match, Silas Young attacks Brayden Lee until Gnarls Garvin makes the save.


- Sierra is backstage and she says she has no choice but to win tonight’s match to become number one contender to the women’s title.

AAW Women’s Championship #1 Contender Match: Sierra vs. Billie Starks vs. Vert Vixen vs. Lady Frost

The match begins with everybody quickly dropping each other with strikes, Sierra drops Frost and Vixen with a double pounce. Starks attacks Sierra with a ton of strikes before eating a boot to the face, Starks then hits Sierra with a head kick followed by a release German suplex. Vixen and Frost work together to get Starks out of the ring, Vixen trips up Frost before landing a flat liner for a near fall. Frost then hits Vixen with a flipping neck breaker for a near fall, Starks and Sierra return to attack their foes before attacking each other. Sierra then hits Frost and Vixen with release German suplexes, Starks gets trapped in the corner before eating a pump kick from Vixen. Frost drops everybody in the corner before landing an avalanche for some near falls, a striking exchange takes place in the middle of the ring. Vixen and Starks drop their other opponents with super kicks, Vixen then hits Starks with a springboard head kick.

Sierra drops Vixen before eating an air raid crash from Frost for a near fall, Starks propels Frost out of the ring and onto her opponents. Starks then hits all of her opponents with a suicide dive, Starks gets Vixen back in the ring before going to the top rope. Sierra attacks Starks and she joins her on the ropes, Vixen recovers and she hits Sierra with a power bomb. Vixen climbs the ropes and Starks knocks her back off before landing a swanton bomb for a three count.

Winner: Billie Starks

- Heather Reckless is interviewed backstage and she says she earned the opportunity to fight for the women’s title tonight, Reckless says Christi Jaynes will lose her title tonight.

AAW Tag Team Championship: Hammerstone & Ace Perry (c) vs. ACH & Jah-C

The match begins with the challengers jumping the champions before the bell sounds, Perry and ACH battle on the arena floor while Jah-C and Hammerstone do battle on the arena floor. Hammerstone eats a few shots before dropping Jah-C face first on the ring apron, Jah-C attacks Perry before eating a boot from Hammerstone. ACH attacks Hammerstone before Perry sends him in the ring, Perry catches ACH in a few roll ups for a few near falls. Perry then hits ACH with a bridging suplex for a near fall, ACH recovers and he tags Jah-C into the match. Jah-C nails Perry with a clothesline followed by an avalanche splash, Jah-C then drops Perry with a one footed drop kick for a near fall. Jah-C is sent to the ring apron before Hammerstone distracts him, Perry drop kicks Jah-C to the arena floor before Hammerstone power bombs him on the ring apron. Hammerstone tags in and he lands some shots to the back of Jah-C, Hammerstone corners Jah-C before tagging Perry in.

Perry keeps Jah-C downed while landing some stomps on him, Perry slams Jah-C before landing a standing moonsault for a near fall. Perry holds Jah-C down while applying a chin lock to him, Hammerstone tags in and Jah-C cracks him with a few strikes. Hammerstone recovers and he nails Jah-C with an overhead belly to belly suplex, Hammerstone then gets Jah-C in the abdominal stretch. Jah-C gets free and he causes Hammerstone to crash into Perry, Perry attacks ACH to prevent a tag from Jah-C. Hammerstone then drops Jah-C with a hard Irish whip into the corner, Perry tags in and he cracks Jah-C with a few strikes. Jah-C fights back and he manages to tag ACH into the match, ACH quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. ACH hits Hammerstone with a suicide dive before knocking Perry off the top rope, ACH then hits Perry with a German suplex for a near fall. ACH misses a charge in the corner and Perry nails him with a code breaker, Hammerstone and Jah-C are tagged in by their respective partners. 

Jah-C hits Hammerstone with a leg lariat followed by the Headliner for a near fall, Hammerstone recovers and he attacks ACH. Hammerstone then hits Jah-C with a spinning bulldog for a near fall, Perry tags in and he nails Jah-C with an ace crusher. ACH returns and he sends Hammerstone to the arena floor, Perry then takes out ACH and Hammerstone with a suicide dive. Perry follows up with a swanton bomb on Jah-C for a near fall, Jah-C fights back and he atgs ACH into the match. Perry quickly nails ACH with a handspring cutter for a near fall, Hammerstone returns and Jah-C knocks him out of the ring. ACH blocks a super kick from Perry before getting him in the cloverleaf to force a tap out.

Winners: ACH & Jah-C, your new AAW Tag Team Champions

- Eric Young is brought out for an interview, Young talks about Impact Wrestling coming to Chicago next month. Young says he’ll select two AAW wrestlers to compete in a tryout match for Impact Wrestling, Mat Fitchett interrupts and he talks about his past win over Young in AAW. Fitchett says he is coming to Impact Wrestling to defend the AAW Championship, Young says Fitchett will defend the title against an opponent of his choosing.

- Schaff is interviewed backstage and he promises to get another shot at the AAW Championship.

AAW Women’s Championship: Christi Jaynes (c) w/Ren Jones vs. Heather Reckless

The match begins with Jaynes attacking Reckless before the bell sounds, Jaynes then chokes Reckless on the middle rope. Reckless fights back to roll up Jaynes for a near fall, Jaynes misses a charge in the corner and Reckless rolls her up for a near fall. Reckless follows up by nailing Jaynes with a basement drop kick, Reckless then hits Jaynes with a middle rope rana. Jaynes looks for a power bomb next and Reckless counters with a roll up for a near fall, Jaynes distracts the ref and Jones attacks Reckless. Jaynes follows up by nailing Reckless with a falcon arrow for a near fall, Jaynes drops Reckless in the corner before landing a head kick. Jaynes holds Reckless down while applying a modified camel clutch to her, Jaynes picks up Reckless and Reckless rolls her up before landing an enziguri. Jaynes misses a charge in the corner and Reckless nails her with some strikes, Reckless goes to the top rope and she lands a top rope high cross body for a near fall.

Jaynes recovers and she misses a knee strike attempt, Reckless catches Jaynes in another roll up for a near fall. Reckless follows up by landing a tornado DDT on Jaynes for a two count as Jones interferes again, Reckless goes after Jones and she nails him with a right. Jaynes accidentally kicks Jones as well, Reckless leaps off the top rope onto Jaynes and Jones. Reckless gets Jaynes back in the ring and she goes to the top rope, Reckless goes for a moonsault and Jaynes gets her knees up. Jaynes then hits Reckless with a modified neck breaker for a three count.

Winner: Christi Jayne w/Ren Jones, still your AAW Women’s Champion

 

 

After the match, Ren Jones and Christi Jaynes are interviewed, the interviewer talks about all the trash Jaynes and Jones have been speaking as of late. Jones says he could take anybody on and Nate Webb makes his way to the ring.

Nate Webb vs. Ren Jones w/Christi Jaynes

The match begins with Jones attacking Webb before the bell sounds, Jones quickly drops Webb before landing a cross body block. Webb leaves the ring and Jones follows him out there to send him into the barricade, Webb recovers and he sends a charging Jones into the barricade. Webb follows Jones into the crowd and they have a brawl, the brawl in the crowd has no lighting and it makes it hard to tell what is going on. Webb eventually dumps Jones over the barricade and into the ringside area, Webb gets Jones back in the ring before landing a flat liner. Jaynes interferes with a steel chair and Jones winds up getting a hold of it, Jones hits Webb with the chair behind the ref’s back. Jones nails Webb with a pump handle sit out power bomb for a three count.

Winner: Ren Jones w/Christi Jaynes

After the match, Christi Jaynes attacks Nate Webb until Billie Starks makes the save, Ren Jones helps Jaynes lay out Starks until Levi Everett makes the save.

Calvin Tankman is backstage and he talks about trying to fight the baddest and the best over the years, Tankman says he plans on winning AAW gold.

Jake Something vs. Schaff vs. Conan Lycan vs. Hartenbower vs. Calvin Tankman vs. Levi Everett

The match begins with Something attacking Everett, a brawl breaks out between all the competitors and some of that brawl spills to the arena floor. Hartenbower grabs Everett and he nails him with a back breaker, Hartenbower traps Everett in the corner before landing a knee strike. Everett fights back and he knocks Hartenbower out of the ring, Everett goes for a dive before getting caught by Schaff and Something. Something and Schaff also hit Everett with the barricade, Tankman takes a bunch of people out with a suicide dive. Lycan returns and he nails a bunch of people with a suicide dive, Schaff then lands his own suicide dive. Schaff gets Everett back in the ring and he cracks him with some strikes, Everett eventually sends a charging Schaff out of the ring. Hartenbower returns and Everett attacks him before getting attacked by Something. Something then hits Everett with a few short arm clotheslines, Lycan hits the ring and Something runs him over.

Tankman and Something have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring, Tankman hits Something with a back breaker into a clothesline. Lycan returns and Everett cracks him with a knee strike, Tankman takes out Lycan and Everett with a double back drop driver. Hartenbower and Schaff return to double team Tankman, Hartenbower and Schaff nail Tankman with a double spine buster. Hartenbower knocks Schaff out of the ring before hitting Everett with a power slam, Lycan returns and he nails Hartenbower with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Schaff then hits Lycan with a short arm clothesline and an imploding suplex followed by a senton, Everett returns and Schaff nails him with a death valley driver on the ring apron. Schaff gets Everett in the ring before landing a frog splash for a near fall, Everett recovers and he nails Schaff with a spine buster. Something returns and Everett traps him in the Churn for a short time, Everett then hits Something with a leaping headbutt for a near fall.

Everett goes to the top rope and Hartenbower takes him down, Hartenbower spikes Everett on his head before Tankman takes him out. Tankman nails Hartenbower with a Hidden Blade for a near fall, Lycan returns and Something hits him with a burning hammer for a near fall. Schaff returns and he battles Something, Hartenbower returns and he nails Schaff with a spear. Something then hits Hartenbower with a bossman slam for a three count.

Winner: Jake Something

- Mike Bennett cuts a promo saying that his heart is broken because he isn’t at AAW tonight, Bennett says he has figured out his one missing piece and he will show his complete self in September.

AAW Heavyweight Championship: Triple Threat Elimination Match - Mat Fitchett (c) vs. 1 Called Manders vs. Fred Yehi

The match begins with Manders and Yehi brawling before Fitchett even hits the ring, Manders and Yehi take their battle to the arena floor. Yehi drops Fitchett and he rips away at his face, Fitchett takes out both competitors with a suicide dive. Fitchett gets Yehi in the ring and he nails him with a top rope rana, Fitchett then hits Yehi with a spear followed by some strikes. Fitchett then hits Manders with a moonsault head kick on the ring apron, Fitchett follows up with a top rope high cross body on Manders for a near fall. Yehi drags Fitchett to the arena floor before landing an exploder suplex on the floor, Manders goes after Yehi and they battle on the ropes. Yehi traps the arm of Manders in the ring post while landing a plethora of strikes, Fitchett returns and he knocks Yehi to the arena floor. Yehi recovers and he sends Fitchett into the barricade, Yehi grabs a steel chair and he attacks Fitchett with it. Yehi finds Manders and he nails him with the chair as well, Yehi goes back to work on the trapped Manders.

Fitchett returns and he hits Yehi with some steel chair shots, Fitchett gets Yehi in the ring with a door as well. Fitchett sets up the door in the corner before hitting Yehi with strikes, Yehi recovers and he suplexes Fitchett through the door. Yehi grabs a piece of the broken door and he attacks Manders with it, Yehi traps Fitchett in the corner while landing some chops. Yehi drops Fitchett with a suplex before attacking Manders with more strikes, Fitchett and Yehi have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Yehi drops Fitchett and he applies the Koji Clutch, Manders gets free and Yehi cracks him with more strikes. Yehi then hits Manders with a spinning back fist, Fitchett nails Yehi with a capoeira kick, Manders follows by hitting Yehi with a lariat. Yehi recovers and he gets Fitchett in a rear naked choke, Manders shocks Yehi with a roll up for a three count (Eliminated: Fred Yehi). Yehi attacks Manders afterwards before heading backstage, Manders and Fitchett have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Manders goes for a Northern Lariat and Fitchett counters with a release German suplex, Manders finally hits Fitchett with a Northern Lariat for a near fall.

Manders looks for a super power slam and Fitchett knocks him off the ropes, Fitchett goes for a high cross body and Manders catches him. Manders goes for a power slam and Fitchett counters with a psycho knee for a three count.

Winner: Mat Fitchett, still the AAW Heavyweight Champion
