POTENTIAL WWE DOCUMENTARIES UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-12-09 12:35:00

As PWInsider.com noted over the last week, there's been some movement on the documentary front within WWE as they are now seeking to hire producers and others to work on that division of the company again.  This was a major change from all work stopping over the summer with some projects that were completely finished sitting unreleased and others being halted in the middle of production work.

In asking around, PWInsider.com is told the hirings are a new development as WWE's now combined TV and Digital division is ramping up for 2022 under its new leadership.  We are told that within the last few weeks, the division has started to look over projects, existing and new, to decide on a strategy and course of action going forward.

At one point, there had been a push to potentially spin off the rights to WWE documentary projects as a revenue source, with A&E bandied about as a possible home, but to date, there's been no word on any movement in that direction.

Based on how late in the year it is, it's not likely we'd know of anything being officially set before 2022, but perhaps we'll finally see the Lex Luger Icons documentary and some of the other projects that were scheduled to be released earlier this year but instead went into suspended animation.  We are, after all, only seven months away from the anniversary of Luger slamming Yokozuna on the USS Intrepid!  So, stay tuned.
