FORMER WWF ANNOUNCER KAL RUDMAN PASSES AWAY

By Mike Johnson on 2021-12-03 08:58:00

PWInsider.com is sad to report the passing of Kal Rudman, a well known Philadelphia-based television and radio personality who also made regular appearances for the WWF in the 1970s and 1980s.  There is no word on the circumstances of his passing at this time.  His wife Lucille passed away days later.

To local professional wrestling fans, Rudman may be best known as one of the voices of the monthly WWF broadcasts that aired from The Philadelphia Spectrum on PRISM, usually calling action from ringside with Gorilla Monsoon.  Rudman would also handle backstafe interviews and at times, would fill that role for WWF Madison Square Garden live broadcasts on the MSG Network and at times, made appearances on WWF Championship Wrestling TV.  When WWF's agreement to air the live events on PRISM ended in 1989, Rudman no longer appeared for the company.

Beyond professional wrestling, Rudman was a regular on The Merv Griffin Show and The Today Show as a musical expert.  He published musical trade publication FMBQ and was the first-ever R&B editor for Billboard Magazine.  Rudman helped set up a number on their path in the radio industry, including the legendary Scott Shannon.  The Rudman family also formed the Kal & Lucille Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supported several charitable, educational, and civic causes in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey region.

Dean Media Solutions ran a tribute to Rudman earlier this week at this link.

PWInsider.com sends our deepest condolences to Kal Rudman, his family, friends and fans.
