The word backstage from Smackdown is that Finn Balor, not Brock Lesnar, would be Roman Reigns' next challenger for the WWE Universal title.
The expectation is that will be the Smackdown brand's main event for next month's Extreme Rules PPV. That would save Lesnar vs. Reigns for the 10/21 Crown Jewel or the 11/21 Survivor Series PPV.
PWInsider.com has not confirmed Lesnar is at tonight's Smackown taping. The Roman Reigns segment is slated to close the show so WWE could obviously have Lesnar show up later in the evening.
