Major League Wrestling has announced a new strategic alliance with Puerto Rican promotion International Wrestling Association.
Richard Holliday currently holds the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship under controversial circumstances.
In a post on MLW’s website, owner Court Bauer said: “We will share resources with the aim of helping each other on the fight and business sides of our two leagues.
“Our goal is to promote the sport and help athletes and fans live their dreams with big fights in both organizations and collectively grow the global awareness of MLW and AAA.”
As mentioned by Bauer, MLW is partnered with other international promotions such as Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in Mexico and Dragon Gate in Japan.
IWA Puerto Rico president Juan M. Rivera added: “This partnership includes the celebration of inter-promotional events, direct support to the events of each of the companies and collaboration in other types of promotions. This decision will be beneficial for both organizations and for everyone involved.”
The post also mentions MLW wrestlers will compete in IWA Puerto Rico and vice versa. It reads: “A first step will be the addition of select IWA Puerto Rico wrestlers in MLW as well as MLW athletes showcased in Puerto Rico.
“The partnership between the two organizations continues Major League Wrestling’s strategic alliances with international federations to create a unified global system to help introduce the sport to new markets, exchange and pool talent, collaborate on content and develop opportunities for fans, athletes and the sport.”
