UPDATED: MICHAEL ELGIN REMOVED FROM IMPACT WRESTLING GOING FORWARD

By Mike Johnson on 2020-06-26 11:25:00

Impact Wrestling confirmed to PWInsider.com this morning Michael Elgin will be eliminated from all future Impact programming.

Impact's statement reads: "Impact Wrestling announced that Michael Elgin will not be appearing in any further Impact Wrestling programming."

While not expressly stated, PWInsider.com is told by sources that Elgin will not be seen again in the promotion.   Elgin has also been removed from the roster page of the Impact Wrestling website and all merchandise related to Elgin has also been removed for sale.

We are told that Elgin was informed earlier today about the decision.

Impact suspended Elgin on 6/22 in the wake of numerous alleged improprieties against women that came out online as part of the #speakingout movement, citing Elgin would remain suspended until "further review" into the allegations was completed.    Impact had been mulling over a decision over how they would handle Elgin’s footage since that time. In the end, Impact decided that Elgin won't be seen or utilized at all going forward.

With the decision now made not to use anything related to Elgin, that throws out any content featuring his involvement in the build to the main event of Slammiversary.  As Impact has no additional tapings before the PPV, the company is now working on how they will reconfigure upcoming Impact on AXS episodes leading to the 7/18 PPV.  Impact’s creative and production team are currently weighing their options based on other content taped as well as new material that could be produced remotely.

This obviously means Elgin is 100% out of Slammiversary.    Yesterday, Impact announced the termination of former Champion Tessa Blanchard, leaving Trey Miguel vs. Ace Austin vs. Eddie Edwards vs. additional possible opponents to be named left to crown a new Impact Wrestling Champion at the Nashville, TN PPV, which will be broadcast from a closed set.  Impact has not yet confirmed how they will handle the creative for the Slammiversary main event.

While Elgin has not been announced as officially released from his contract, today's announcement certainly looks to be the end of his run with Impact.

Update: 1 PM - Elgin has deleted his social media accounts.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
