COMPLETE WWE MONEY IN THE BANK PPV COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2020-05-10 18:08:00

Earlier today, Baron Corbin bragged about everyone he has beaten down in recent weeks.  He said that the best is yet to come, as he's going to claim his second Money in the Bank Ladder Match.  Even someone as brilliant as he is, he doesn't know what to expect but the risk will be worth the reward because he'll be King Money in the Bank.

They showed Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks walking in the back.  Kayla Braxton said that Banks has always had her back but it was Sasha's unsuccessful attempt to neutralize Lacey Evans leading to Bayley being pinned.  She asked if Bayley blamed Banls.  Banks said she doesn't blame anyone and that they were stirring the pot.

WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley (with Sasha Banks) vs. Tamina

Bayley was aggressive right away, slapping and yelling at Tamina, but was unable to budge her.  Tamina drilled her across the back of the neck and worked her over in the corner.  Bayley mounted her back with a sleeper but was driven backwards into the turnbuckles.   Tamina nailed a suplex and covered the champ for a two count.  Tamina placed her on the top and slapped her.  Bayley asked the referee to back her up.

Tamina kicked her in the gut as Bayley advanced upon her.  She slammed Bayley, who rolled to the floor.   Tamina was grabbed and pulled to the ringpost.  Bayley smashed her leg into the ringpost.  She worked over Tamina, who came back with a splash in the corner.  Tamina went for a superkick but was grabbed in a kneebar.  Tamina fought her way to the ropes to force a break.  Bayley kicked away at Tamina's leg after the break, trying to wear down the stronger competitor.  Bayley went for a Fireman's Carry but crashed forward as Tamina was too heavy to maneuver.

Bayley rolled to the floor to attempt to recover.  She called for a time out.  Tamina followed and was attacked with strikes to the back and neck.  Bayley asked for a water and splashed it all over Tamina, which enranged the challenger. Tamina tossed her into the ropes and clotheslined her as she bounced off to the floor.  Tamina sent her into the barricade.

Bayley was tossed back into the ring.  Bayley grabbed the ropes to escape a Samoan Drop attempt.  She went to the floor, where Tamina tossed her over the announcer's table.  Bayley was tossed back into the ring.  Tamina went for the Superfly Splash but saw Bayley getting up and came down on her feet.  Sasha Banks got involved when it appeared Bayley was done but backed back out of the ring, afraid.

Tamina followed and pulled her back into the ring but that allowed Bayley to grab her in a crucifix and score the pin.

Your winner and still Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley!

Tamina went to hit a Samoan Drop on Bayley after but Sasha nailed a chop block to save her.

It was OK.

Backstage, Seth Rollins said he will unburden Drew McIntyre when he takes the WWE title from him.  Drew knows what he is capable of and knows deep in his heart, that it's Rollins' destiny to beat him.  Fine promo.

They aired a video feature on the WWE Universal Championship.

WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt

It was all Braun early, sending Bray (sweater wearing Bray, not the Fiend version) to the floor, into the ring steps and into the ringpost.   He crushed Bray with an Avalanche in the corner.   He charged Bray on the floor but Bray sidestepped him and Braun crashed into the announcer's table.  The Piggy Puppet popped up in the crowd, cheering on Bray.  I wonder if he's going to start betting with MJF.

Wyatt attacked Braun and beat him on the floor, then tossed him into the ring for a two count.  He sent Braun into the ring steps on the floor.    Bray brought him back into the ring and prepared to attack but was nailed with a big right hand.  Bray nailed him with Sister Abigail but Braun kicked out at the very last second.  He went for Abigail again but Braun broke free and nailed a big chokeslam.

Strowman nailed an Avalanche in the corner and tossed the challenger to the floor.  Braun charged and smashed him into the barricade.  Braun tossed him into the ring but was kicked down to the floor.  He rose up wearing his black sheep mask from the Wyatt Family days.  Bray acted like he had found the old Braun again and told him that this time, everything will be perfect.  Braun dropped to his knees in front of Bray.  Bray embraced him.  All the puppets celebrated that Bray had brought Braun "home" again.

Braun slowly took off the mask and showed that he wasn't part of Bray's group by stomping the mask.  Bray tried to get him to listen to him but Braun powerslammed and pinned him.

Your winner and still WWE Universal Champion, Braun Strowman!

That was what it was.  Obviously, this was all a backdrop for The Fiend to fight Braun later on.

The Hacker appeared.  He said they want to know who he is.  He is everywhere and sees everyone.  He hears everything.  He is the truth and no one is safe.  The camera pulled back to him watching endless screens with different WWE performers being spied upon.

They aired a video feature on the WWE title bout.

They announced a 6/14 WWE Backlash PPV.  So, a five week build.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins

They locked up and went back and forth until Drew nailed Seth, sending him to the floor.  Rollins returned to the ring and they grappled back and forth.  Drew shoulderblocked him down several times and clotheslined Seth over the top to the floor.  He told Rollins he was enjoying this and he'll let Seth take a breather.  Rollins returned and they locked up.   Rollins nailed him with a right hand in the corner but Drew fired back and sent him into the buckles, where he took an upside down Ray Stevens-esque bump.

McIntyre continued working over Seth until Rollins dropkicked him in the left knee.  He follows up and attacked the knee again.  Drew was sent to the floor, where Seth nailed him with a tope suicida.   The champ was tossed back into the ring and worked over with a one-legged crab.  He maneuvered that into a crossface.  Drew made it to the ropes and went to the floor.  He was almost counted out.  Seth nailed a flying knee off the apron and rolled in, resetting the referee's count.  Seth was yelling that it was his destiny.  He drilled another knee.  McIntyre was trying to pull himself up but was all out of sorts.

Seth climbed up on the announcer's table and leapt off with a knee strike to the face.   He went to attack Drew again with another dive but was caught with a painful looking overhead belly to belly suplex.  Back in the ring, Drew nailed another belly to belly and a big boot to the face.    Drew ascended to the top and nailed a clothesline.  He went for a kick but Rollins snapped him on the top rope.  Rollins went for a springboard move but was caught and nailed with a spinebuster.  Drew flipped over for a two count.

Drew went for the Futureshock DDT but Rollins attacked his leg and covered him, only scoring a one count.  They went back and forth and at this point, were far and away the best in-ring match on the show with lots of good near falls.  McIntyre nailed the FutureShock for a two count.  They battled to the top, where Drew was crotched on the top turnbuckle before being tied to the tree of woe.   McIntyre was worked over but pulled up and suplexed Seth into the ring, with Rollins flipping into the ring.  That looked great.

Rollins came back with a superkick for a close, close two count.  They battle until Drew nailed the Glasgow Kiss and the Claymore Kick, scoring the clean three count.

Your winner and still WWE Champion Drew McIntyre!

This was a lot of fun as it was a good, physical encounter that told a good, believable story and came across as if they were legitimately fighting for a title.  Enjoyable.

Drew told Seth he was exactly what Drew needed.  He told him he was the man, but not tonight.  He dared Seth to show the world he really was a leader and to shake his hand.  Seth finally did so.  Drew thanked him and walked off, leaving Seth in the ring.
