WRESTLE KINGDOM DAY 14, NIGHT TWO

Jushin Liger's retirement match: Jushin Liger & Naoki Sano vs. Ryu Lee (fka as Dragon Lee) and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi

Big reaction for Liger, as you might imagine.  He and Hiromu start out.  They lock up.  Liger is backed into the ropes and there's a clean break.  Hiromu is taken down to the mat and locked into a swinging submission.  He grapevines the legs and ties up Hiromu on the mat, pulling him over his knees.  All of this is the prolouge for a bow and arrow.    Lee tags in.  Liger went to tag out to Sano but was jumped by Lee and Takahashi.  They double team Liger with clotheslines in the corner, followed by stereo dropkicks.

Lee worked over Liger and knocked Sano back off the apron.   Takahashi used a Fujiwara armbar to wear down Liger.   Sano finally got tagged in but was overwhelmed by the younger competitors.  He came back with a dropkick on each.  He shoulder tackled Lee down, but Lee popped up and took off his shirt, challenging Sano.  They exchanged punches and forearms.  Lee nailed a knee strike but when he rebounded off the ropes, Sano nailed a clothesline that sent him inside out.

Liger and Takahashi each tagged in.  They battered each other wieth forearms.  Liger was overwhelmed and beaten down with forearms in the corner.  Liger finally slipped under him and nailed a powerbomb out of the corner.  Liger began drilling him with strikes.  He went for a piledriver but Lee attacked him.  Hiromu set up Liger and Sano on the floor for Lee to dive down upon, but they moved and Lee took out his own partner.  Liger brought Hiromu back into the ring and drilled him for a two count.    Hiromu escaped a suplex and nailed a back suplex of his own but Liger popped up and exploded with offensive maneuvers.  Lee broke up the pinfall attempt. then nailed Sano and hit a dive on him.

Liger went for a brainbuster but it was blocked and Hiromu nailed a Falcon's Arrow for a two count.  Luger was double-teamed with knee strikes and kicks but still kicked up at the last second.  The crowd chanted for Liger.  Liger was nailed with a DVDR into the corner by Hiromu.  Liger surprised him with a rollup for a close two count but ate a clothesline.  He nailed the Time Bomb on Liger and scored the pin.

Your winners, Ryu Lee and Hiromu Takahashi!

Match was as good as could be expected.

Lee and Horimu showed Liger respect after the match.

Liger took the mic and spoke to the crowd and said in the Dome, Jushin Thunder Liger the professional wrestler was born and today, Liger the professional wrestler is no more.  For 31 years, thank you for your support.  Thank you dearly.

They showed fans crying in the crowd.  Liger shook hands and hugged Sano, then took the Dome crowd in one last time before exiting the ring.  It was a really nice moment.  He embraced fans as he headed backstage.   There will be a retirement ceremony tomorrow at New Year's Dash.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Roppongi 3K's SHO and YOH vs. El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori.

They had a vignette where Rocky Romero appeared via hologram to find out where Roppongi was, then they morphed into futuristic motorcycles to head to the Dome,  OK!

This was all action early on with Roppongi getting the early advantage.  Phantasmo and Ishimori went to the floor to regroup.  They cut off Sho and worked him over.  Ishimori went to the top for a 450 splash but Sho got out of the way.  Sho's neck was attacked, Phantasmo raked his back.  He worked over SHO and even caught Romero with a dive out of nowhere.  Ishimori tied SHO to the tree of woe.  The challengers each stepped on, well, SHO's nether-region.  Ouch!  YOH tried to help but was given the exact same treatment.  Double Ouch!

SHO finally fights back and nailed Ishimori.  He makes the tag to YOH and nailed several dropkicks on the champion, followed by flying forearms.  He sends Ishimori down to Phantasmo, who catches him, then  hit a pescado to take both down.  He went for a Falcon Arrow but Ishimori landed on his feet.  There were tags made on each side.  SHOW nailed a double suplex on both challengers.  Phantasmo caught him with a small package but SHO kicked up.  They went back and forth until 3K nailed a double stomp and scored the pin.

Your winners and new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champions, Roppongi 3K!

The challengers double teamed SHO with a giant swinging neckbreaker for a two count.    They mocked 3K and teased doing their own move but SHO caught Phantasmo with a Canadian Destroyer.  SHO drilled him with kicks to the chest and back.  He attempted to nail a package piledriver but Phantasmo escaped and nailed a Styles Clash for a close two count.  The crowd reacted loudly to the Clash.

Revolution Pro British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. SANADA.

Some nice exchanges early.  A lot of aggression from each competitor.  Lots of attempts at takedowns and submissions.  SANADA went for the Paradise Lock but Sabre broke it.  He went for a straitjacket hold but they kept reversing it.  Sabre went to the floor to break up SANADA's momentum.  SANADA reversed an attempt at a Cobra Twist and got one of his own.  They rolled around the ring trying to score pinfall attempts.  Sabre caught him with a strike and tied up SANADA's arm with a Gateway submission.

SANADA broke free and attacked Sabre's leg, twisting it and snapping him to the mat.  Sabre rolled out to the floor, where SANADA hit a big pescado into a brawl.  The crowd loved that and chanted for SANADA.  He brought the Champion back into the ring.  He went for another Dragon Screw Legwhip but Sabre ripped at his face.  He went for a Zack Driver but SANADA turned it into a TKO attempt.  They went back and forth until SANADA grabbed him in a Dragon Sleeper and spun him around the ring.  SANADA went for a moonsault but no water in the pool.  Zack nailing a running knee strike but hurt his leg in the process.  All good stuff thus far.

Zack and SANADA battled back and forth with big strikes and forearms.    They went back and forth with pinfall submissions and near falls.  SANADA elbowed Zack as he advanced and went for Skull End.  Sabre caught him with a Backlund Bridge pinfall for a close near fall but SANADA went back to the Dragon Sleeper.  Sabre snapmared him off and turned it into a Cobra Twist.  They continued back and forth until Sabre caught him with the Backlund Bridge.

Your winner and still Revolution Pro British Heavyweight Champion, Zack Sabre Jr,

Really good, fun back and forth physical chess game.  If you like pro wrestling from a purist point of view, this was for you.  Really enjoyable.
