BRANDON KIRK VS. JIMMY LLOYD INSIDE THE CAGE OF DEATH AND MORE: COMPLETE CZW CAGE OF DEATH 2019 COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-12-14 20:36:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's ongoing coverage of CZW's 21st annual Cage of Death event from Voorhees, NJ!  The show is streaming live on FITE.TV.  Our coverage is sponsored by Wrestlecon.com.

Our coverage is starting late due to coverage of the NWA PPV.

WSU Title Bout: Kris Statlander vs. Brittany Blake.

Brittany Blake scored the pin to become the new Champion just as the PPV went on the air.  So, they did not broadcast the match itself.  Blake was emotional after the match.  Statlander shook her hand and showed Blake respect after the bout.  They announced the match will air in its entirety during the intermission as they set up the Cage of Death.

Larry Legend came to the ring to ring announce.

CZW RULES: John Silver vs. Conor Claxton

Silver hit the ring and tackled Claxton.  They began brawling.  All sorts of weapons in the ring including steel chairs, trash cans and a staple gun.   Silver gained control and placed a trash can over Claxton’s head and chest and began kicking the can with Yes Kicks.

Silver stalked Claxton and removed the trash can.  Claxton rolled to the outside, busted open.  Silver nailed him and placed him in a chair, kicking him in the chest.  The audio isn’t synched with the video, which sucks as a viewer.

Silver placed another trash can over Claxton’s head.  He set up to charge and kick it but Claxton removed it and threw the can at Silver.  Claxton took a dollar from a fan at ringside and stapled it to Silver.  He then did it again on the other pec.  UGH.  No need for Silver to be doing these spots after getting a deal with AEW.

Silver fought back and nailed him with the stapler, then stapled a dollar to Claxton’s forehead and cheek.  Silver began taking more money from fans and stapling it to Claxton.  Hell of a way to get a tip for your services.  Claxton nailed him with a chair across the back.  He told Silver he was in his world, slapping him and suplexing him across the floor and an open chair.

Claxton brought him back into the ring and drilled him into an open chair.  He covered Silver, who grabbed the ropes.  The referee stopped counting.  Claxton complained there are no rules.  He has a point.

Claxton brought Silver over to the ropes and pulled him to his shoulders.  Silver turned it into a rana and followed up with a superkick and a Spin Doctor.  The crowd chanted “Meat Man” at Silver,  Claxton kicked him off as he charged.

Claxton went to the top but Silver threw a trash can at him. Silver slammed him off the top onto an upside down trash can, which crumpled under Claxton.  Claxton kicked up at two.  Silver went under the ring and brought out a kickpad covered in thumbtacks.  He placed it on his leg and began pummeling Claxton with kicks to the chest.  Claxton looked to be done but exploded with a flurry of offense and a piledriver for a two count.

Claxton brought out a barbed wire door.  Silver nailed an enziguiri and hit a Razor’s Edge into the door on Claxton.  Silver covered him for the pin.

Your winner, John Silver!

If you want to watch weapons and plunder, this was for you.

Silver collected all the money after the match.  He was limping a bit after but that may have been selling.

Young Dumb N Broke (Charlie Tiger & Cowboy Ellis Taylor & Griffin McCoy with Jordan Oliver) vs. Jimmy Rave & Steve Mack & Azrieal.

The story of the match was jerk upstarts vs. veterans.  Azrieal kept control on Ellis and McCoy early on.  Tiger was trapped in an Octopus.  YDMB cheat to take control and wipe out Azrieal.  They tag in and out, working him over.    Rave was able to tag in and went back and forth with McCoy.  Rave was selling that his calf was hurt.  He came to the ring using a cane.  It turned out he was faking it.  He took down McCoy with a crossface but the other member of YDNB broke it up.  They cut the ring off on Rave and worked him over in their corner.

Tiger worked over Rave's leg on the mat.  He was able to tag Mack who nailed some big lariats and a back bodydrop over the top to the floor.  Mack pressed Taylor over his head.  Azrieal came off the top with a double stomp to the back of his head.  Mack and Azrieael nailed stereo suicide dives to the outside.  The crowd loved that.  Mack doing a dive is SCARY.  McCoy and Mack exchanged strikes and slaps.  Mack nailed a powerslam for a two count.    Tiger and McCoy double teamed Mack for a two count.  Azrieal nailed a Northern Light suplex for a near fall.  He followed up with an Ace Crusher off the ropes.

Pandemonium broke out as everyone battled.  Rave hit an insame Side Russian Legsweep that folded Ellis Taylor in half.  Mack dumped Tiger over with a back drop driver.  McCoy nailed a superkick on Mack and dropkicked him in the side of the head.   McCoy and Rave battled in the corner.  They battled to the top rope.  Rave shoved him off.  YDNB swarmed Rave, who tried to fight them off.  McCoy trapped Rave in a pinfall combination and scored the pin.

Your winners, YDNB!

OK six man tag.  The crowd really came up for Mack and Azrieal's big stereo dive.

KC Navarro vs. Kris Bishop vs. Leon Ruff vs. Matt Macintosh vs. Gabriel Skye

The winner will be the number one contender to the CZW Wired Championship, which is their version of a TV title.

Navarro had a big entourage with him and his hype man introduced every single one of them.

All of the competitors went after Navarro.  His entourage entered the ring and got trounced.  That was pretty funny.

Bishop tackled Macintosh and they crashed to the outside.    Sky and Ruff went back and forth with some nice action.  Navarro nailed Ruff from behind but he did a kipup into a lucha style armdrag takedown.  Some nice athleticism there.  The crowd chanted "Ruff Ruff."  Navarro knocked him out of the ring as Bishop returned to the ring,  He nailed a double stomp on Navarro.  MacIntosh returned to the ring and drilled him with an insane back suplex while trapping Bishop's arms.  They are all doing big moves and hard hitting stuff in rapid fire fashion.

Skye nailed a rana on MacIntosh.  He went to the ropes for a dropkick but slipped while executing, only hitting a glancing blow.  Navarro blasted him after the move and teased a dive to the outside, but faked everyone out.  Bishop began drilling everyone with strikes on the floor.  Navarro charged MacIntosh in the ring but was backdropped over the top onto everyone on the floor.  MacIntosh then hit a big flip dive over the top to the floor on the pile.  Ruff followed up with a big dive off the top of everyone.  Skye kicked at Ruff, then hit a quebrada onto everyone on the floor.  The crowd chanted for all the dives.

Skye covered Ruff in the ring but only scored a two count.  He tried to toss Ruff out of the ring but he held on and nailed a rebound lariat.  Navarro nailed him.  Bishop went after him but was caught wbutith an enziguri   McIntosh used his power to control the ring.   Skye took out one of Navarro's entourage members when he tried to interfere.  That allowed Navarro to catch him with a kick.  Skye caught him in the gut with a kick.   Skye caught him in a fornt guillotine and then suplexed him over for a two count.

MacIntosh caught Skye with a bucklebomb but Ruff broke up the pinfall.   He caught Ruff with a shoulderblock into the corner.  Ruff escaped and nailed several kicks, only to miss a twisting dive off the buckles.  Ruff missed a second attempt.  Bishop hit the ring and began pounding on them.  Ruff nailed a reverse dive into a cutter.  Ruff nailed a big swanton for a two count.  Maven Bentley pulled the referee out of the ring.  The story is he's partial to Bishop.  Navarro came off the top with a frog splash on Bishop and scored the pin.

Your winner, KC Navarro!

It was all young talents doing everything they could to entertain and make their names.  Ruff has a TON of athletic potential.  Bishop had some real good grit to his work.  MacIntosh had the most polish in the ring and was great as a base and showing his power.  Navarro and his group seemed to be in the middle of being groomed as the next big stable here.  Skye showed some nice skills as well.  Lots of potential names for the future here.

Maven Bentley came into the ring and tried to tell Bishop he could make him a champion.  He told Bishop all he had to do was fall in line and become a champion because of Maven.  Bishop decked him.  He said he will do what he wants, on his terms.  Obviously that's going to lead to someone managed by Maven vs. Bishop down the line.
