By Mike Johnson on 2019-09-28 00:02:00

Bar Room Brawl: The Bouncers vs. Vinny Marseglia & Silas Young

Beer City Bruiser attacked Marseglia on the entrance stage and they brawled into the ringside area.  Brian Milonas came from the crowd to attack Silas Young.    The Bouncers controlled the brawl.  Marsgelia was busted open.    Bruiser chokeslammed him into the ring apron.  Milonas nailed a suplex on the floor on Young.    Bruiser tried to use a pool cue on Marseglia but he avoided the charge and it broke on the ringpost.  Marseglia drilled the stunned Bruiser into the ringpost.  He and Young double teamed Milonas ans zip-tied him to the ropes.

This left Bruiser being worked over in a two on one situation.  Marseglia and Young set up a table on the floor.  Milonas broke out of the zip-tie and nailed a double clothesline.  He hit avalanches on each in the corner.  The Bouncers double-teamed Young.  Bruiser nailed a Samoan Drop on Marseglia.  Milonas nailed a back senton splash.  Marseglia came back and nailed a big boot.  Young grabbed the broken pool cue and used it to bust open Milonas.  Josh Woods, who was at ringside doing commentary, argued with Young over using it.

Marseglia threw darts in the back on Bruiser, who was held in the corner.  UGH.  Too much.  Young nailed a moonsault into an elbow for a two count.  Milonas hit the ring with a chair and drilled Young in the corner with a cannonball.  Marseglia caught him with an elbow.  He came off the ropes but was caught with a slam.  Milonas set up for a powerbomb but Young drilled him several times with a chair.  Milonas was placed on a table on the outside.  Marseglia nailed a swanton off the top to the outside, putting Milonas through the table.

Bruiser nailed a DVDR on the apron on Young.  Bruiser and Marseglia battled to the top.  Bruiser hit a superplex into a pile of chairs.   Marseglia seemed to like the violence, telling Bruiser, "I told you I'd get it out of you."  Bruiser called him a b**ch and nailed a DDT for the pin.

Your winners, The Bouncers!

If you wanted a bloody brawl, this was what you got.  The darts were too much in my opinion.

ROH TV Champion Shane Taylor vs. Tracy Williams vs. Flip Gordon vs. Dragon Lee

Taylor had a new presentation with a fight team/management group.  Lee was a big surprise and the crowd seemed happy about his inclusion.  They all battled and it was a lot of high octane fast action.    Too much to recap.  Gordon brought a chair into the ring but Williams fought it away from him, but that allowed Taylor to hit his Michinoku Driver and score the pin.  WHAT?

Your winner and still ROH TV Champion, Shane Taylor!

This was, in my opinion, way too short, especially since Lee was brought in from Mexico for the event.  It felt like it was over just as it started to really congeal as a match.

Lee had a staredown with Taylor, so that's the next big TV title bout.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. Mark Haskins & Bandido.

They had a lot of shots of Haskins' wife, Vicky, so there's your angle.

Some really good back and forth wrestling here, some of the best on the show.  Bandido hit a BIG dive over the ringpost to the outside and at that point, it turned into a super physical brawl that was some of the best action on the entire show.  Haskins chopped the living hell out of Jay Briscoe against the ring apron.  Mark hit a crazy running flip dive to the outside.. Jay worked over Bandido, punishing him for awhile until Haskins made the save.  Haskins and Bandido worked over Jay and Mark..  Jay finally scored the pin with a pair of Jay-Drillers.

Your winners and still ROH Tag Team Champions, The Briscoes!

Thumbs up from bell to bell here.  Briscoes just keep getting better.

Buly Ray returned to TV and laid out Bandido and Haskins.  Tray Williams went to make the save but Flip Gordon, the Mercenary began beating the hell out of him with a Singapore Cane.  Bully teased powerbombing Haskins through a table but his wife tried to get involved and tell Ray to stop.  He told her she was just a woman and put Haskins through the table.  She hopped the rail to check on her husband but Ray had security drag her out from crossing the rail.  That's a real pr**k move and in another time, would have been a huge angle in a territory like Memphis.  I totally got what they were going for there.

ROH Champion Matt Taven vs. Rush.

Rush came to the ring.  Dragon Lee was sitting ringside and hugged him.   They said Rush's father and son were also in attendance.

Some nice intensity early on.  Taven nailed a powerslam off the apron to the floor on Rush, which was pushed as the most physically hurtful thing ever done to Rush in ROH.  Taven nailed a dropkick through the ropes then charged with a big knee against the railing.  Taven hit a BIG dive over the top to the floor.    Taven brought him into the ring and scored a two count.  Taven called for Rush to get to his feet.  Rush fired back with righ hands but was caught with an enziguri, then drove him down with a neckbreaker for a two count.  There were some fans chanting for Taven.

Taven began working over Rush with backbreakers and scored another two count.  They brawled to the floor, where Rush smashed him with a guard rail piece and suplexed Taven across one of the announcers' table, which didn't give an inch.    Rush set up Taven in the corner and teased his big dropkick into the corner but instead played to the crowd.  Rush went to the top and hit a missile dropkick.  The crowd chanted for Rush.  Rush nailed a running dropkick off the apron the floor.

Rush tossed Taven back into the ring.  He ascended to the top and nailed a back senton splash off the top.  Taven tried to hit the Climax but Rush caught him with a kick and nailed a dangerously insane looking Jay-Driller variation.  Rush went for a running move but was nailed with a knee.  Taven nailed the Climax and scored a close two count.    Taven slapped Rush, who responded in kind.    Rush nailed a big back suplex and went for his Bulls Horns in the corner but was speared in mid-air in a great spot.

Taven nailed several running knees but Rush spit in his face.  Rush avoided the Climax and shoved Taven, in the corner off the ropes, where he smashed into the top of the ringpost.  Taven fell upside down trapped in the buckles and was hit with the Bull's Horns twice in a row and pinned clean in the center.

Your winner and new ROH World Champion, Rush!

That was a hell of a finish.  It reminded me of the Jerry Lawler-Curt Hennig AWA title change in that it was an errant smashing into the ringpost that led to the finish.  Really strong match overall.

Rush celebrated with his family in the ring.  His son laid on the mat and did Rush's pose.  That was adorable.

Taven got in Rush's face, then offered him a handshake.  Cary Silkin presented Rush with the ROH Championship belt.
