Right around six p.m. ET, we got our first match as Drew Gulak defended his Cruiserweight Title against Oney Lorcan. I just heard from VPJenn that there are long lines around the building of people trying to get in and there are a lot of empty seats.
They started hot and just as things got going, they went to a commercial for SummerSlam. I really hate that. WWE needs to do a feed for Net subscribers that we get the damn match. We don’t need to be sold on buying the PPV.
They are working hard and it’s cool to see 205 guys work on the mat. Both of these guys are really good at that. Not much flying here, just wrestling and hard shots. I like it.
Drew was in trouble but held the ring skirt to throw Lorcan off. Drew then threw a shot into his Adam’s Apple and then pinned him. Really good match. I wish more people were there to see it.
Drake Maverick is here. He is looking for the champ. He is going to beat R Truth and take his Title, then get some from Renee. What he didn't realize is Truth, with Carmella, were hiding in front of the panel on the floor. Drake came back. Carmella kicked him, and off Truth and her went.
Apollo Crews then took on Buddy Murphy. I wondered why this was even added. They worked hard and Murphy got the first big pop of the night with Murphy skying over the top onto the floor. Then out of nowhere Rowan came out and attacked Murphy. He yelled snitches get stitches (for what he told Roman). He destroyed Murphy and said keep my name out of your mouth. Well, now we know why they had this match.
Elias did a song running down Toronto. Edge came out to a big pop. He came down to the ring and speared him. Big pop from the hometown crowd.
Then they showed KO and Shane. If Shane wins (ok, when Shane wins), they could have him quit and Eric Bischoff come out and refuse to accept it. Just a thought.
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defend against the former champs, the Iiconics. I don't see a change here since it wouldn't make any sense to do it this quickly. Corey Graves is mad at Alexa so she must be a face now. It has something to do with Walt Disney. I don't speak that language. Check with Mike Johnson!
The challengers are in control early, working over Nikki. Alexa hot tagged but they went to work on her too. Cross even had a to break up a pin. They are letting the Iiconics do more here than they did during their whole run as champs.
Then Peyton got mad when she couldn't get a pin, ran into an Alexa right hand, ate Twisted Bliss and the champs retained. Fine for what it was. If they want to go face with Alexa for a while I am cool with that. She can pull it off.
I think Coach said the attendance is 15,504. They could have gotten that for NXT too dammit!
The show is about to start and for the last hour I have had a ton of problems. It has to be their new company and demand and all. I had some problems last night but it's worse tonight. I have it going on three devices and am restarting them with great regularity. So I will do my best to keep blogging but if I miss something, don't attack me. Not my fault!
