CHANGE TO WRESTLEMANIA 35 RIGHT BEFORE SHOW BEGAN

By Mike Johnson on 2019-04-10 14:44:00

The original plan for Wrestlemania 35 was for Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins to go on right before the main event of Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair.  The decision was made to move the WWE Universal title bout to the opening match after the Alexa Bliss segment.

The original opening match was slated to be Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles.

The change in the lineup of matches was made official around 5:30 PM (TYPO corrected), right around the Cruisweight title bout went to the ring.  It may have been done, as Paul Heyman said on the mic, to accomodate Brock Lesnar so he could fly back home as soon as he was done.  It was done so late in the game that some were unaware Paul Heyman was going to go to the ring and were shocked by it taking place.

The remainder of the card, with the exception of Brock vs. Rollins, took place in the original order as scheduled by management.
