BUCKS & CODY DEFEND SIX MAN TAG TITLE, NEW BOUT SET FOR DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, FINAL ALL IN HYPE & TONS MORE: COMPLETE RING OF HONOR PHILADELPHIA EXCELLENT COVERAGE (INCLUDES ROH TV SPOILERS)

By Mike Johnson on 2018-08-25 17:29:00

Ian Riccaboni said that in a week’s time, the most important independent wrestling of all time would take place and brought out Cody, who will be challenging for the NWA title at that event in Chicago.  The crowd chanted Cody’s name.  Ian Riccaboni then brought out NWA Champion Nick Aldis.

Cody said that no one is more persevering than the wrestling fan and they haven’t seen real change since 2001.  He means real change in the wrestling economy and going from undesirable to undeniable, going All In.  The fans chanted All In.

He said that All In is the biggest self-budgeted, self-promoted event of his entire life.  He said his wife was backstage and didn’t want to come out.  The fans chanted her name and he said she had to come out.   She finally did.  Cody put over the show and said that he knew the fans were All In.   He asked the fans in Philly if they were and they went nuts.

Aldis took the mic and asked if Cody could put his PT Barnum routine away and look him in the eye like a man as Cody the professional wrestler.  He said that maybe Cody is confident that he can walk out with this ten pounds of gold or maybe it’s easier to act that way when you know what you are going to deal with.  He ran down the list of names he’s beaten in the ring including Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy.

Aldis said he’s going to slap him around and make him humble in Chicago.  He said he was the man who made this belt mean something again.  He said Cody wants it, but he has to beat Aldis.  Aldis doesn’t have to beat him.  He said he was at the top of the mountaintop and it’s going to take a hell of a man to knock him off.

They faced off to end the segment.

The Boys vs. Best Friends.

The Boys battled with Beretta and Chuckie T and showed off some nice tag team maneuvers in the process.  The crowd was really into their work. Chuckie cut one of them off and tagged in Trent, who wiped the Boy out with a stiff chop.

Taylor tagged back in and slammed him.  The Best Friends worked him over but he kept tagging out.  The other Boy tagged in and hit a springboard high cross bodyblock on Beretta, then hit a back cracker for a two count.  They got some offense in before being wiped out and hit with stereo finishers for the pin.

Your winners, The Best Friends!

Good match.  The Boys worked well with Trent and Chuckie.  It was a nice use of them as they await the return of Dalton Castle.

Adam Page vs. Kenny King.

Big reaction for Page coming out.  They had some nice back and forth grappling early on.    They exchanged shoulderblocks, trying to overpower the other, until King snapped Page with a drop toehold.   They battled to the floor.  Page nailed his flip into a shoulderblock to the floor.

An inflatable beer bottle (the size of King) that King carried to the ring with him was brought into the ring, leading to Page suplexing him on it.  That got a “Holy sh**” chant.   Page nailed an awesome fall away slam on King for another two count.

King ducked a right and caught Page with a clothesline.  They battled to the apron where King hit a kick.  He went to rebound off the ropes but Page flipped in for a big lariat, scoring a two count.  The crowd chanted for Page.

They battled back and forth.  Page scored with a discus elbow.  King hit a sunset flip for a close two count.   King finally scored the pin with a handful of trunks.

Your winner, Kenny King!

Brian Johnson vs. Donte Calbero ended up being a backdrop to Jeff Cobb coming out and laying each of them out with all his signature moves, which was a great way to establish him.  He said the Top Prospect Tournament was over and declared himself the top prospect.

Bully Ray & Silas Young vs. Jonathan Gresham & ROH Champion Jay Lethal.

Bully antagonized Gresham before the bell and slapped him.  Lethal had to calm Gresham down.

Young and Gresham started out and they had some really good back and forth action.  Gresham turned around and slapped Bully, returning the favor from earlier.  Bully walked around ringside irate.  Fans catcalled they wanted Spike and D-Von Dudley.

Ray finally entered the ring and quickly took down Gresham with questionable tactics.    Lethal was able to tag in and faced off with Ray.  Lethal grabbed a headlock but was sent into the ropes and nailed with a shoulderblock.

Lethal faced off with Bully and slapped him.  They began fighting back and forth with chops and strikes.   Ray finally trounced him with a big tackle.  Lethal came back with an enziguiri.

Lethal and Gresham hit stereo dives to the outside on Ray and Young.  Young was tossed in the ring and Gresham went for a move off the top but Ray hit the ropes and crotched him, squashing that momentum.

Ray and Young took over, working over Gresham for a long time.  Ray peppered him with right hands.  He called for an elbow but got dropkicked low.  Gresham locked the Octopus on Bully.   Bully made a comeback but missed a back senton splash off the ropes.

Lethal made the hot tag and began working over Young.  He kicked a Young charge off and nailed the Lethal Combination.

Ray hit the ring but was nailed with kick to the face.  Lethal kept going for a suplex but Bully was too big. Gresham hit the ring and teamed with Jay to suplex him.

Lethal and Gresham did the old Dudley Boyz Wazzup spot on Bully, which got a big pop.   Lethal nailed a flying elbow off the top.  Gresham hit a shooting star press for a two count.

Ray backdopped Jay over the ropes.  They worked over Gresham.  Young nailed Misery and scored the pin on Gresham.

Your winners, Silas Young and Bully Ray!A real good match with Lethal and Gresham shining as babyfaces because of all the excellent heel work.  I like the idea of Ray and Young as the old school bitter veterans.  This was a very good, back and forth tag team bout.
